The party has had a problem with gays for years (which is a bit strange given Thorpe and co).
There are those of us old enough to remember how they dealt with Peter Tatchell in 1983. It was dirtiest, most violent, and certainly the most homophobic election in Britain in the 20th century and it was the Liberals behind the smears.
(What is really redeeming about the whole thing is that Tatchell knew that Simon Hughes had his own gay past but refused to stoop to his level in the fight.)

Having savoured the rancid outpourings of LibDem Focus leaflets throughout my adult life, I am certain of these things re the LibDems - that there is no depth to which they will not stoop, no smear too nasty to make and no promise they will not make in pursuit of electoral advantage.
I said on another thread that I've not been as impressed with Jo Swinson as I'd hoped to be so far.Put it this way, if the Lib Dems start to hoover up homeless MPs it'll be interesting to see how fussy they are.
I don't know how you put a number on how many bad apples is too many but I'm quite open to changing my mind.
Whilst I'd never encourage it I can almost see why people simply don't bother voting.

I'm sure you'd like to think that Alfie but if you can read and scroll down it takes about 20 seconds when I catch up on things when I get home.Good to know the suggestion to "raise the bar" was taken on board.

I've no idea.Did the canary fold or something?
Some of their articles are hysterical opinion pieces and best ignored, some are more factual.
Here's the interview itself so it's hardly as if they've made up what he said.
