Servicing Question
Discussion
Just took my car in to my local OPC for its 2yr / 24,000 mile "spit & polish", err I mean service. Before the "service salesman" has even said good morning (and I don't think he ever did) he announces:
"Porsche recommend you have your break fluid changed every 2 years, would you like it doing"
"Well yes then"
"That'll be an additional cost of around £100"
"But if its recommneded to be changed each 2 years then shouldn't it be part of the 2 YEAR SERVICE"
"Its not"
"Well I'll get back to you then"
Are they having a laugh or what?
They'll be charging to wash the mechanics' overalls next: "We do find that after a full service the overalls get particularly greasy and Porsche do recommend a full biological clean"
Dick Turpin eat your heart out.

My indie charges about 30 quid for the brake fluid change if it's done with the 24k service, because they have to take the wheels off and clean the brake calipers anyway, so the amount of labour involved in additionally doing the brake fluid is minimal.
But your OPC chap is right about the 2 years, that is the recommendation.

depends on the age of your car....a newish porsche needs the brake fluid stamp in the book at the 2 year mark.
brake fluid is hydrascopic and should be changed, if you track the car it needs replacing more frequently.
Pain in the neck but I paid about 100 quid to have the fluid changed on my Audi just for the full history stamp.
