R.I.P. JAYB, A thank you and goodbye.
Discussion
The last couple of months I have been investigated for what appeared to be a relatively simple if unpleasant medical condition. This week a diagnosis was finally completed and unfortunately it's cancer, incurable and already spread.
I may have a couple of months, possibly more, but not much. Even though not curable, there is palliative care which will be quite intense and as such I shall not be frequenting these parts I fear.
Before that, I wanted, as part of a desire to leave nothing unsaid, to offer my thanks to this little community of ours. It has meant a great deal to me for a considerable period of time and I am grateful to all those I have met and come to know, both in real life and in pixcellated form.
I do see criticism of this place in some subforums but in comparison to huge swathes of the web it is a civil, largely liberal and pretty decent place. It has been something I have valued and that has enriched me in many ways, so, for that I thank you all.
Be excellent to one another, and party on dudes.

It is with great sadness that I must inform everyone that JAYB passed away this afternoon while I was visiting him. He died suddenly of a pulmonary embolism.

PH is a community in its own strange way.
I am so very sorry that you are facing this journey, but I never give up hope for the future. I have seen some people who were able to survive this scourge and lead happy and meaningful lives. Any time you need a bit of a lift, there will be people here to talk to - there always are.
I wish you the very best.

J,
Properly shocked, really sorry to hear this JAYB, not really sure what else to say other than I hope you get as much support as you need to make these months comfortable.I may have a couple of months, possibly more, but not much. J,
Really sorry to hear this. You won’t know my username but I’ve read many of your posts over the years, I just wanted to wish you and your family all the very best. It is things like this which really put life into perspective and I hope things proceed for you in the best way possible.
Thank you JAYB for all your contibutions to PH over the years, I've never met you, don't think I've even 'corresponded' on the forums but you've been a constant and entertaining presence over the past 15 years of my time on PH.
My mother is in palliative care for cancer at the moment, I'm off to hold her hand later. She's very comfortable and seems happy enough in her 'bubble', though it's debateable at this stage whether she registers much more than our presence.
I hope your time goes as peacefully. All the very best.
