I saw this from a distance on a colleague’s car

I’ve obscured some of the plate as I don’t wish to get the owner into trouble

Closer inspection revealed

Who else thinks that the positions of the screws are somewhat off center (1st pic) :scratchchin:

So how long do you reckon it’ll be before he’s rumbled? (not that I hope he will be)

What is it supposed to say? Dud? Does that mean he doesn't think much of his Merc?

Actually it's a strange piece of local folklore - although it is spelled "DUD", the correct pronunciation is (phonetically) WANG-KAH

He should put a normal plate on it and just revel in the fact it's an AMG. Or is it not?

The privte plate one one of my cars ends in 'D' when I bought a new car and had the plates transferred the dealer fitted the plates.

It took me nearly 6 months to realise that on the rear plate the position of the screw made the 'D' look like a 'B'

may have unintentionally saved me a scamera ticket or two

Yes, it's illegal. No, he won't get rumbled. Yes, he might get hit with that aswell should he get stopped ofr speeding.

A while ago I followed a car "T10 TAX". The "T" was badly deformed and the space between the "T" and the "1" virtually non-existant. The result looked like "no TAX". I couldn't see whether it was true or not.

Am I the only one who thinks that putting coloured screws into a number plate to make letter look like different ones is just about the most pathetic thing you could ever do?
Pretending you plate says something it doesnt

No, you're not. Perhaps not THE most pathetic thing if comparing said act to things like kicking a small kitten to death, but pretty pathetic in the scheme of things. I think it is the small willy syndrome.

How does it compare with the "it must have fallen off, officer" method?

My last car had ADB at the end, and a screw was in the D and made it look like ABB...

Infact, I think I told the insurers that it was ABB. Was like that when I got it and since the screw cover was black, not yellow at the back, and vice versa at the front.

Hmmmmm... was even stopped and had a producer for L*** ABB

same penalties. But if both have fallen off then its a tad different similar penalties but an explanation to the courts may be required.

very funny- however at least the sort of person who kicks kittens would come up with some sort of reason for doing it (it made me look hard in front of my mates etc) but what possible excuse for the embarassment that is that number plate?

Does it matter? Why do we need number plates anyway?
