I'm sure someones done this here... :)

I've got a 98 996C2 with the becker single cd headunit (cdr-22??).

Do you know if this is compatable with an iPod? I want to semi-permanently install one in the car but don't want to lose the oem look of the headunit.

I looked at the phatbox but it doesn't let you put aac files on it and I have loads of music purchased from the itunes store.

Thanks in advance.

I recently looked into this myself but as I'm selling my car I didn't do it. The best way is to hard wire it into the back of your head unit. I have a Alpine unit and they sell a wire which costs around £110 fitted. My unit must be around 6 yrs old so I would have thought your head unit will take a wire.I have included a link which is probably more helpful!www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=48&t=149086

I use the Ipod with the Itrip radio transmitter. Works really well with no additional work required.

I was led to believe that the sound quality is improved using a wire and the wire will also charge the ipod.

Cheers for the info...just had a quick look. Unfortuantely it's only the headlights. I've ordered (in fact the couriers just arrived with 2 huge boxes as i type) the full kit - front, rear, side repeaters and a smoked brake light. Not cheap but should change the look of the car hugely!

That's correct, a different league of sound with a permanent hard wired system. That's why I went for the full Alpine system, simply plug, play and enjoy

Look at www.ipodmycar.com - I recently fitted one to the CDR22 in my Boxster and it works really well.

I use mine with a iPod mini and only cost me £99
