Benno, your garage looks familiar, did I buy an 04 VXR Monaro from you many years ago?
You very likely did buy one of several monaro's i once owned - if I'm right it would have been the silver 5.7 one?

Do you still have it?

I hope you pay into a pension.
Pension? Mugs game mate, smart moneys in ratty old mondeos and vectras.
I’m in Rover 216 GSI’s myself.

SJP we’re trying to get me into Peugeot 404 M16s but, as ever, their fees were prohibitive.

Mods, please could you move to one of the finance forums?

Madness, the GSI is the wrong vehicle for long term growth.

Although still not legal, if a sorned car was parked on the road under a cover, the registration wouldn’t be visible......
This is a myth. Once deemed abandoned (for example if the car is not registered in the keeper's name to avoid detection), the Council can remove it. I am afraid the days of amateur car dealing and speculation is long dead.

https://www.bikerandbike.co.uk/parking-covering-mo...

The fact is that any car that is SORN must be off road - the O.R. part of SORN.
Any vehicle on a road or other public place must be taxed and insured. if not, the Police can remove it and crush it.

You can potentially rent a council garage from about £5 a week but they tend to be in rough areas and easily broken into.
At that minimal rate, you would pay £2600 in rent over 10 years.

As stated, a Mondeo will never be a sought after car or worth much. Old Fords are valued for rear wheel drive rallying antics.

You might get a return if you squeeze 3 original SMART cars into the garage, sideways as long as you pay no more than 50p each for them.

People spend stupid money (or least advertise at) on old Fords, even the utterly crap fwd stuff, even Orions. eg https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...

I didn't realise they were quite that mental. eek

£5.5K for an Onion seemed plenty, but for a 1.3 it's truly mad. Mind you that is probably why that one has done so few miles, driving it must be a miserable experience!

I would say on the Moon.

They parked a B29 bomber on it, so it must be good.

Don’t bother holding on to the car just sell it now for a good £1500 profit.

In the 90s I purchased a number of new fully loaded 605’s and XM’s, parked them in Tescos car park for three years and sold them on, the profit got me where I am today.

For sale, not sold.

Nobody's buying a boggo 1300 Orion for that money.

Surely you don't think waxing it or living inland will stop it rusting?

Of course it will. Or in your world does water just magically fall from the sky?

In 2035 it's more than likely there'll be no petrol / diesel engines on sale and anything still running an internal combustion engine will be taxed into oblivion - your fragile rusted out Mondeo will be worth a pittance.
I would say that that’s quite unlikely really

I think that photo is fake- the B29's tail was rounded at the top, not flat.

Closer still, park it just off the M3, it will last for a millenium.
