Here is my latest acquisition. Having owned a MK1 1.8 reliably for the last year and a bit I saw this come up and decided to have a look. It's a 2006 Rover 75 1.8 Connoisseur SE which I believe is the mid-range model in MK2 form with the Contemporary SE taking over as top spec. Although it's got the bells and a few whistles such a full leather electric seats, heated seats, climate and cruise control.

What attracted me was that although the last Rover 75 rolled off the production line in April 2005, this car wasn't registered until July 2006. I'm not exactly sure why it took so long to register the car. Perhaps a visit to the MG Rover forums could explain that one. The first owner sold it after a year and a bit, the second owner kept it for 13 years, in that time it has done a grand total of 48,000 miles. It was SORN for the last few months and was all ready to go for its MOT. The previous owner spent £338 then the MOT centre lifts in Northern Ireland all decided to develop cracks at the same time.

The interior has little or no wear and if I'm being picky it could do with a valet. On the outside the bodywork is excellent the only real wear being the front badge which I've forked out a whole £8 to replace.

Hoping to run it as a daily once it gets an MOT, the best part was the price, a whole £700. I don't think the 75 is as respected in NI as it is in England, maybe parts availability or lack of Rover specialists has something to do with it. Prices for 75 seem to be all over the place with early Cowley ones making several thousand, high mileage project drive making in the low hundreds. The BMW diesel engined Tourers seem to be making strong money too. For the mileage I don't think I've done too bad, I've seen a dealer in the Midlands selling a gold one for a whopping £4k.

2006 registered; probably stuck on dealers forecourt with no one wanting to buy after MG-R went to the wall

Possibly only shifted to the first owner at a give away price.

Possible the dealer went down with MG-R and it took a Yr of administration/receivership before it could be flogged as liquidation stock.

Nice looking car and as you had one before you'll know about all the little niggles like scuttle drain etc...

Reading on forum that a lot of 75/ ZT went into auctions up to a year after the closure. In fact there is an old Rover dealership which still has delivery mile Rovers and MG ZT up for sale between 25-30k. He still has some 600's round the back covered in mould and lichen which still have plastic covers on the seats

The plenum drain issue is one of the few niggles you have to check on regularly as a 75 owner. Thankfully my MK1 was 2004 so by then they removed the top drain as part of the Project Drive cost cutting scheme. The MK2 doesn't have it at all.
