Spanish Roadtrip.

Having just purchased what I call a nice Grand Tourer and fingers crossed all the nonsense has subsided I’m planning a roadtrip in Spain for mid-2022 for my 65th Birthday celebrations.
I’m thinking of ferry to Santander/Bilbao , doing the full Picos De Europa route ,across the Spanish Pyrenees to Barcelona ,Valencia and down to Calpe which is one of my favourite places in Spain.
I would welcome any suggestions and recommendations on particular scenic areas and nice spirited driving routes to take specifically through the Pyrenees and en-route generally.

What do you have? An XK or similar? I've done a few trips on those routes since 2013, great driving roads. As said before, N260 across the Pyrenees is a belter! Biescas is a nice stop off, as is Sort. Highly recommend Silken San Jorge in Platja D'Aro on the East coast for a few nights!
I've driven through Spain to Alicante several times and actively searched out some fun roads over the years.
As others have said N260 is a cracking road. On your return from Calpe to Bilbao I'd recommend checking out the N330, Almansa to Teruel. It has nice variety, well surfaced and lightly trafficked. You could join it at Almansa, or further up at Utiel.
If you want to extend the cross country run I can throughly recommend:
N330 Almansa (or Utiel) to Landete
CM215 to Cañete, Cuenca
CM2106 through Tragacete toward Poveda de la Sierra, avoid the awful single track part of the CM2106, then CM210 to Molina de Aragon
N211/A2 to Soria
N111 to Logrono
Then motorway to Bilbao.
Most of the above roads are 'wide enough' to make good progress - they have a centre line and enough room for two cars to pass without stopping. The only narrow section is north of Huerta del Marquesado for about 10mins. They are well surfaced, quiet and have enough variety to keep you interested/entertained, plus some spectacular scenery, all without being so technical or indirect to seriously slow progress. I've driven a range of cars, from a 5 series estate to a Porsche Boxster along those roads without issue, so should be fine for a grand tourer.
If you want to break up the journey, there is a nice Relais Chateaux place near Siguenza (approx halfway point) or lots of good places around Logrono. Last time I did it, I stayed at Finca de los Arandinos Bodega outside Logrono, which was good.

Hi ,sorry for the late reply ,only just picked this up.Yes , I have purchased a 2011 -5 litre Supercharged XKR Coupe .
Loving it so far , just had it serviced ,4 new Michelin PS4’s and its being detailed and ceramic coated as we speak .
