Hi all I wanna make my kids ride on last longer off a charge . The battery now is a 12v 10amp. Could I replace that with the old battery from my car which is a 12v 70amp stop start battery from varta.
What do you reckon?

Yes no problem.

It’s the Ah rating which shows how long it will last.

Surprised it will fit and the extra weight isn’t ideal.

Maybe get another battery the same and rotate them?

Ithanks for the reply. It's a pick up so I can put it in the rear and cover it over. Only need a couple holes drilling for wires.

If it were my kids, I wouldn't consider a 'wet' battery.

Gel batteries are available up to 100Amp-hrs - see "Ultramax" and others.

Zero risk of spillage.

I agree with tapkaJohnD that a wet battery wouldn't be ideal. And your car battery will also not be a deep cycle battery and will die very quickly if deep discharged, which is very likely in this type of application.

If you're willing to spend pocket money on it, the modern solution would be a 3S or 4S lipo battery which would set you back 20 quid or so for 10Ah. You'd need a battery manager on the vehicle to stop it discharging too far - if you upgraded to a digital speed controller most would give you that for free. You'd need a lipo charger too.

You could easily end up spending several tens of pounds on this plus a day or so to sort out the wiring and electronics so not as cheap/simple as the battery swap, but the right gel battery for this will probably come out to a similar price.
