Manhart joins Delta Integrale restomod craze

And there's not a gold stripe in sight

Manhart has its calling card when it comes to modifying: black paint, gold accents, a ride height as low as the power is high. Sometimes their projects deviate a little, but they really are the exceptions that prove the rule. So this really is something. Not only is Manhart’s latest project not a BMW, it’s also not a new car, not wildly powerful and not even painted black. Welcome to the Manhart Integrale 400.

Created under the ‘Manhart Classic Cars’ sub-brand - as ‘the topic of heritage is also very important to the specialists from Wuppertal’ - the Integrale broadly sticks to the familiar restomod script. It’s a faster, more capable, more modern version of a classic icon, one that broadly keeps the old school style intact - and actually represents a less extreme take on reimagination that some other projects.

The Manhart decals are here, of course, but incorporated rather more subtly than is the norm; the Manhart Evo roof spoiler is begging to have ‘REPSOL’ scrawled across it. The wheels are, of course, the legendary OZ Racing Rallye, here in Dark Graphite with silver lettering but with any colour combo desired available to buyers.

But it’s underneath the famous Delta silhouette where Manhart has been busy. Power has almost doubled from the 200hp of a standard 16v Integrale, thanks to Manhart’s own forged pistons, connecting rods, Group N air intake and - predictably enough - a giant new turbo. Alongside a new exhaust and some ECU fettling, Manhart now claims 375hp from the 2.0-litre Lampredi turbo, as well as 406lb ft. Those numbers are comparable with something like an Audi RS3 (400hp/369lb ft), so this Manhart Lancia is going to be a seriously fast hot hatch. Power reaches the road via the standard five-speed manual, albeit toughened up with ‘Group N components’ and a Sachs clutch.

Suspension is now by KW V3 coilovers, with braking taken care of by a Manhart Evo kit comprising 380mm front discs and 284mm rear; ‘convincing deceleration values’ are promised. Certainly, it’s hard to imagine much faster down a bumpy British road, even if the base car is now 30 years old.

As is the case with pretty much every restomod, there isn’t a fixed price for a Manhart Integrale 400 - it’ll be built to however large you want the budget to be. Interestingly, however, this very car is actually for sale, complete with all the good stuff Manhart will be offering new customers, including the interior update. It’s priced at €129,900, which is currently about £111,500. A huge amount of money, sure, if far from the most expensive Integrale around. Because that’s the weird world of Lancia love we now live in. Wouldn’t have to wait ages for a donor car to be built up, either…

Very happy theyve kept it 5 door. Gash colour though. Will drive terrible with that hp and boost.

I think I would rather have a standard one.....doesn't seem special or unique enough to be desirable as a tuner company restomod - just looks like all the integrales from the 90s that had been tuned up in someone's garage - there were far better homebuilt cars in Max Power back in the day ha ha ha.

Weird- thought I would like this...

Why do you say that? 4WD should contain it.

4WD should be fine with the power, although not "authentic".

Don't mind being in the minority, think it's tastefully done, I like the greeny colour and the interior looks really good. Just don't like the smoked rear lights.

Like with all these though, but out my price range though. biglaugh

It's barely more than the Group A car had , so the chassis should be fine if they have uprated the transmission and clutch in line with the group A car - on a standard road clutch it wouldn't get past one spirited launch ha ha ha

Surprising that they started with a non-Evolution really, as they're the ones that seem to get most people weak at the knees. I don't mind. Rear lights make it look a bit cheap, and I don't think the wheels really fit in with the '80s styling. I bet it's an awful lot of fun to drive though! Interior is lovely too.

I'm not sure what's "lazy" about a rebuilt engine, new suspension, stronger gearbox, new brakes, retrimmed interior etc etc. And how dare a business try to capitalise on a strong market, disgusting behaviour laugh

Authenticity depends on the desired outcome I guess. An Integrale rally car, with a period-correct turbo restrictor probably wouldn't have been far off that power so, if that's what they were going for, they're probably in the ballpark.

I kind of like it that they've resto'd the 16v bodyshape and not gone for the Evo.

Could I not just give these guys a normal regular clapped out Lancia Delta and they can turn it into this for me?

Seems a swing and a miss, the modern OZ's don't suit it either.

Something about that looks a bit “off” for me. Can’t put my finger on it, but it might be the wheels? Looking at the individual photos, everything looks nicely done but the overall look of the car seems a bit odd.

Are the wheels just too big? The colour doesn’t really help. I dunno, not like I’ll be in the market for anything like this anyway so I’ll try not to lose too much sleep over it.

By Manhart standards, its quite subtle!

On quick glance, I quite like it other than the rear lights. That wouldn't be my choice of colour though.

i think you're right, the wheels are wrong. Has to be Compomotive's as per the Evos. Lose the window tints, change the alloys and I'd be happy with it.

ok the tinted rear window is not done me thinks, and a bit of a shame its on a 16v base, not a Evo, but all in all not expensive compared to some others.

also the color, thought first pictures its matt black, but its more mat green, which is not bad.

remember some other Delta Intergrale copy maker asks 4 times this.

At least this will push the price up for owners of existing unmolested Integrales
