Looking to get a Fire Stick 4K but can’t decide between the 4K, 4K Max or TV Cube. What’s the main differences or advantages between them please?

I have a 4K OLED TV and I may or may not want to use a certain app to allow me to watch various channels and sports etc and I’m wondering which stick is best.

With the Cube, can it stream to the TV so not requiring the use of a 2.1 HDMI port on the TV? That would be good as all the ports are in use. Or does its HDMI input port mean I could plug my Sky box or 4K DVD player into it instead of into the TV, then plug the Cube into my TV HDMI?

Future proof and get the best Firestick available. I have older Firestick that I don't use becuase the 4K is faster and the 4K Max will be faster too. Less time waiting for dodgy streams.

The new 4k Max is brilliant and miles quicker than my old 4k one. It's definitely worth the upgrade. Can't speak of the cube.

Reading your original post again you are really asking 2 different questions...

Firestick (any spec) or Cube...

Based on what you say if you don't have enough HDMI ports then you can only have the cube but you may find the complexities of streaming and pass through frustrating.

Does your TV only have 2 HDMI ports?

New TV time?

No, it has 4 but they are all in use, I even have a HDMI switcher with yet more devices attached. Only two of the TV’s ports are 2.1 HDMI and are already in use with my 4K dvd player and Sonos soundbar. I’ve read that the Fire Stick 4K/Max/Cube should be connected to a 2.1 port for full picture quality?

No benefit to using 2.1 port.

Atrmos ?

I thought the convention was soundbar eARC to TV eARC via 2.1 and all other devices to remaining TV HDMI ports.

NB. I do get confused a lot wink

I picked up a 4k in a Black Friday sale a few years ago and even though I've had a long history of using FireTV (had the original v1 box plus a couple of sticks) I ended up using it less and less because of the user interface. Way too much prominance on ads and the icons look pretty 'childish' to my eyes.

Even though Google TV/Android TV also pushes ads, it just looks a lot better and I like using it a lot more.

As you know there are reasons and benefits why the 'e' in eARC stands for 'enhanced'

Having my Sonos soundbar connected to the HDMI eARC port allows my TV remote to control its volume etc.

I’ve ordered the Fire Stick 4K but my TV only has 4 x HDMI ports, two are 2.1 (one being eARC) and the other two are 2.0. I have more devices competing for the remaining 2.1 port than can be connected so I’ve ordered a 5 port 2.1 HDMI switch.

Fire Stick 4K arrived today, quite impressed with it. Sadly the USB port on my Panasonic JZ1500 OLED TV doesn't provide enough power for the Fire Stick, had to plug it into a wall socket instead.

I've also sorted out all the other devices that are competing for the TV's only remaining HDMI 2.1 port...

4K DVD player
Apple TV 4K
Fire Stick 4K
PS5

The HDMI 2.1 switch allows all of those ^^ to connect to the one HDMI port, comes with a remote control so I don't have to keep getting up to switch them over..
