Stand back for the new Liberty Walk Abarth 595

The titchiest Abarth was always brimming with attitude - time for Liberty Walk to crank it off the scale

The joy of Liberty Walk is that nothing is sacred. There’s not a car on this planet, if they deem it worthy enough, LB Works wouldn’t transform in their own unique style. See their Ferrari F40, for example. Which is now painted white, rather than just wrapped white, because the boss doesn’t like wrapping expensive cars. When the rules are there ain’t no rules, you’re guaranteed some outrageous creations.

Now Liberty Walk has the perfect everyday car to go alongside the F40: a widebody Abarth 595. Teased on social media ahead of a reveal at the Tokyo Auto Salon next month, it boasts everything we’ve come to expect from a Liberty Walk build: a staggering widebody, a ride height ready to grind the tarmac away and some of the silliest spoilers ever seen. Yet with an oddly cohesive end result. An Abarth 595 shouldn’t be this wide and this low and this far from standard yet look so good - but here we are.

The kit comprises the front bumper and canard, side skirts, rear spoiler and diffuser, bonnet and wider wings. For those feeling ever so slightly less courageous when it comes to overhauling an Abarth, the diffuser, rear spoiler and bonnet are available as individual items. There is also a wheel decision to make, of course, if going all in. We’re not smart enough to identify what these are, though it’ll come as no surprise to learn that bronze works a treat against the pearl white.

Pre-orders are being accepted on the Liberty Walk Abarth 595 now, including for Europe. Unsurprisingly given the time and love that goes into these things, it doesn’t come cheap: LibertyWalkEU says its £12,771 plus VAT and fitting, both of which will add a chunk to the price. But then the notion of a small Abarth with a big price is hardly a new one, and tuning the 500 family is an integral part of the appeal. It’d certainly make for quite the arrival at the next Abarth meet. Expect more pictures and details come January.

I have very mixed feelings about Liberty Walk stuff. I think the F40 looks excellent, but some of their other stuff really doesn't work. This is in the latter camp for me. The arches need to come higher up the sides of the car I think. It doesn't quite site right with them sitting so low, and it makes the wheels appear smaller.

When I clicked on the short promotional video, I just laughed. The music was perfectly matched to this creation. Some will love it but it’s a no from me.

Yeah, an isnt that a render anyway, the wheels dont look like they have anywhere to travel in that arch ?

Quite like it though but I think the standard one looks great in the right spec anyway.

That's quite restrained for Liberty Walk!

The arches are normally larger and further protruded from the chassis

Love that!

I'm actually a fan of Liberty Walk stuff, but not all of it.

I think I'd have my LW Abarth in Red or Yellow, however.

Pretty sure it's a render as they posted pics of it being built recently, due to be completed in Jan I think.

Being the owner of a 1970 Abarth 1000TCR, this is just what Carlo Abarth did with the fiat 500 & 600 cars in period. Guess it would cost over £20k finished…….

This looks the dogs…..in a good way.
But £12k is a big commitment before all the other costs. Abarth Ultras only need apply.

Don't particularly like it, but I'm glad it exists for some.

OK hear me out:

- De sticker it
- Paint it dark green
- Bronze wheels
- Raise it a few CM

Then you have an absolute winner. What a car!

Doesn't work for me. The arches / wheels make it look the Sport Van / Espace F1.

100%. A "car" video where the car doesn’t move - perhaps it can’t (watch out, there's a pebble), and we're treated instead to some Friday swaggering yoof urban cruising music. #notfordrivers

Completely absurd but somehow light yeas away from the junk Masonry pump out.
Apart from the kidz ride height, really like it. Though with all that on it really needs a serious engine upgrade to go with it, otherwise all show & no go.

Not my cup of tea.
Looks like a video game rendering, does it really exists ?
