I'm not sure if this has been asked before but interested to see if anyone has a fun or interesting commute? And in what?

Winding A road in the Trossachs? Single track pass in the welsh valleys?

To kick things off around a third of my commute is a single tunnel, 2 miles, doesn't take much digging to work out which one! Excited to switch to something with a nicer exhaust note to appreciate it.

I can't tell if this is a somewhat interesting question or incredibly boring to ask

Been lucky to commute down some great roads - my favourite is the A548 from Louth to Wragby while I was commuting to Lincoln every day. That road is an absolute slice of heaven for the area.

I'm sure commuting in N Wales would be much more fun biggrin

I used to schelp over the South Downs from Chichester to Crawley - initially in a GTM Libra, then a modded MX5 NB. Was great fun, at normal road speeds.

Amazing views and some nice winding roads with loads of elevation changes. Bury Hill was a daily highlight.

A long time ago I had a 21 mile commute, in Dumfries and Galloway, 16 miles of that journey were B, C and unclassified roads, most of them up and down with plenty of twisties.
My weapon of choice was a 1978 mini and yes I had been thoroughly indoctrinated by David Vizard.
Loved that commute, the car never let me down, even in heavy snow.
I remember romping past a Volvo, of some sort, that was wheel spinning its way, very slowly, up a snow covered hill.
Fun times!

No the opposite, 8mile stretch of the A31 dual carriageway to Gford with average speeed cameras which can take 45 mins, then North up the A3 sitting at the road works at the M25 which is normally 30 mins to do 4 miles then into Sarth London on the A3 with all the cameras queues and Uber drivers.

And a big thank you to the Mobile speed camera Van parked on the A3 twice between Guildford and Tolworth between Xmas and New year - I hope your turkey burnt..

30 mile commute takes 1hr 30 to 2hours.

sorry not sure this is what the OP wanted.

Haha doesn't sound too fun. I commuted for three years 45 mile each way into Manchester which was awful, average speeds, endless roadworks, then had the joy of paying for parking every day. usually was 1hr 30 to 2hrs each way

Edge of the Trossachs, but yes.

When I started this job I also did weekly trips *everywhere* in Scotland - in the first 7 years I literally visited the four corners of Scotland. This included one memorable 10 day trip from Inverness, across the North Coast, down the west Coast, out to Skye, back in via Mallaig and Ft Willaim and back over the great glen to finish in Inverness again.

Before this job my previous commute was single track highland road along loch shore each day, with weekly trips over the local mountain road during work, and monthly trips across Deeside, Speyside and Ardnamurchan.

What do I win?

I have a 16 mile twisty B road across west Berkshire to Newbury. Road surface is poor in places but it’s a beautiful bit of countryside, and great fun when it’s a clear road.

I cycle it regularly in the lighter months too… cracking way to start and end the working day, except for one particularly steep hill (Streatley hill for anyone who knows it!)

biggrin love it. I had a similar commute for a while, bumper to bumper with a golden retriever, usually lost him clipping the apex of the treats cupboard

I used to have a local stretch of B road, only about 3 miles long that was 60mph, lovely, slightly hilly and a range of bends but lots of fun in the wet and dry. Enjoyed that twice a day for many years.

1/2 hour commute East-West with three viable interesting routes but many more permutations when it's dry enough to use unsealed roads again.

I commute 28miles each way from Kent in to Central London. M25, M20, A2 and total mess of traffic and boring road. BUT, I do it on a motorcycle so it's better and more fun than any commute undertaken in a car smile

Not many driving ones but I have done a few extended cycle rides on my commute the last few years, up into the Pentlands near Edinburgh - did a 33 mile ride home a few times. I also worked at a hotel in the mountains in NZ many years ago - I lived about 1/4 mile from work but it once took me two days to get home due to a combination of staff parties and young ladies.

Weirdest commute was in Sydney late at night - normally 1 train trip and a short walk turned into 2 trains, a bus, a taxi and a police car. They dropped me at my front door though.

I've been thinking of getting a bike, for both weekends and commuting, but never gotten round to lessons, cbt and everything. Would save money though as free city centre parking and also don't have to pay Mersey tunnel tolls!
This time of year I'm not sure it'd be too pleasant though, when I see bikers getting soaked on the motorway I'm very thankful I'm in a nice warm car with my heated seats on biggrin

My bike has heated seats. And grips.
