I am currently in a workplace pension.

I do salary sacrifice into this at the moment.

My question is related to the current 3% that the employer pays.

If through my workplace pension I salary sacrifice should my employer still be paying the 3% element on top of my sacrifice ?

Thanks.

As said, definitely yes. And check your contract, because many employers have schemes where they pay more as you pay more. My youngest son's firm, albeit a multi national, increase as he makes additional payments, topping out with them paying 13% if he pays 10%. So 23% in all. And of course, his 10% is only 8% after tax relief. The start age was 22 and I harangued him into paying the 10% from the off. He's 26 now and when he checks his pension pot, compared to what he's actually paid, he's reluctantly beginning to agree that I'm not the complete idiot he assumed I was hehe

Also check which fund you’re investing in, sometimes the default fund isn’t the best for everyone i.e age should make a difference to which fund to choose but the default is set for everyone to start on, and some can have slightly cheaper fees.
