I am often bloated after eating and was thinking I might have food intolerances. I was thinking of taking a test from this website and wondered if anyone has with decent results or is it a con? https://ukfoodintolerance.co.uk/?_gl=1%2A1969s97%2...

You can experiment on your self at home with a rotation diet.

Also cut out all UPF’s as a first port of call. For me, this is the worst culprit by far.

I had the tests and the results surprised me, I cut out those foods and it helped. I think they work

Did you use this company? Hair samples, wasn’t expecting that.

I’ve always had a beer belly but I have come to realise I think the worst of
It is caused by hardness in the top of my stomach, which seems to be gas related.

Buy a food and symptom diary from Amazon for <£10 to log what you eat, symptoms, etc.

Will help you understand what is going on but does rely on you filling it out.

Just cut out bread, pasta, pastry, spuds, bascially anything starchy. Problem will disappear. If it doesn't then cut out the beer too.

I was allergic to vinegar and white grapes, I would never have found out from a diary or cutting out food groups.

Could be IBS / Diverticular, go docs and get a check up just in case.

Well you could have, unless you never eat grapes or vinegar. Rotation diets are based on taxonomy. So one day you might have noticed you were feeling off eating from the Vitis genus of foods. Then you might start narrowing this down.

What is good about a rotation diet is that you notice the effects different food groups / taxonomies have on you. Was eye opening to me. I avoid legumes now, despite the common advice that they are good for you. They always slump my energy. I’m intolerant of lentils in particular.

It wasn’t until I cut out almost all UPF’s I realised you shouldn’t get any bloating at all, and after eating you should feel energised. So this step is important to create a baseline. Is it the foods, or are the emulsifiers in the UPF destroying your gut lining, irritating your bowels and creating an inflammatory response?

I’ve tried the food diary but bloating and constipation flares up and there seems no pattern so was hoping to purchase a test.

You could try the low FODMAP diet for a few weeks, see if that makes a difference then introduce the various foods one by one over a period of time and see if they have any effect.
I did a blood intolerance test, avoided the things I was intolerant to for three weeks which made zero difference so now on low FODMAP - it's very annoying.
