My trusty 10yr old Bosch Rotak has given up after 10 years. It's been a good machine and gives a decent cut with little maintenance however the motor has dies half way around the garden. Looking for a new one, must be electric and must have a rear roller.

The easy option would be to just buy another Bosch. I would, but I had the corded option which meant I didn't have to think about battery life or whether it was charged but the downside was the 10m cable so its always had to have an extension fitted.

I've looked about for the last 10 mins and it seems Lawnmaster have been getting decent reviews but I've heard nothing about them. I have doubts that they'll give me 10 years of battery life so I don't know whether to just stick to corded? Any other thoughts on cord Vs battery?

I'd go for a rotak 40 to be honest. Cheap enough and decent mower.

I have bought a Hyundai corded mower after many years of a Hyundai petrol mower.

It was cheap at £74 and big enough for two small lawns, cannot believe how light it is. 1300W motor.

No grumbles at all but it does need the lowest setting on my lawn

Makita 18v x2.

They do them in various widths and they and light but well made. They run off the power tool batteries so if you have already got some kit it makes for a cheaper investment.

Makita batteries tend to be some of the best in the market and you can usually get a 18v 5ah battery for between £55-£60. Intact I got a deal the other week where it was 2no 5ah batteries and a single charger for less than £125 delivered.

I have a Makita 2 x18v, and corded Bosch. The Bosch has not been used for 2 years as the convenience of battery power and not having a cable in the way is so much easier. It takes less than half the time the job used to.

No rear roller on the Makita but I still get striped.
