Everrati reveals first 964 RSR Homage
We've all seen 500hp green over tan 911s, but probably not many with battery power
Just when it seemed like the flames had died down, one particular restomod fire gets stoked again: it’s an old 911 with battery power. Specifically, an Everrati build, which is following its previous Signature cars with something called a 964 RSR Homage. The Oxfordshire company says this is its ‘ultimate 964-based definition to date, an example of sustainable luxury that can be enjoyed by generations to come.’
We'll get to that, but it only seems right to begin with performance when talking about something Porsche 911 shaped called an RSR Homage. The original, after all, is as special as 964s get, a 3.8-litre, Turbo-bodied road racer of which just 51 were made. Power for this one comes from a 63kWh battery and is supplied to a pair of motors, delivering more than 500hp to the rear wheels.
Everrati says it’ll reach 60mph in 3.7 seconds and do more than 200 miles, with DC fast charging possible. Tractive adaptive suspension is standard fit, and lots of the body parts are now carbon - including the RSR-style rear wing. The 18-inch wheels are custom HRE items.
This first RSR Homage is called the ‘Evergreen Commission’; painted Oak Green Metallic (find a 911 that isn’t these days) with matching spokes on the Momo wheel, the Everrati also gets Bridge of Weir leather inside. The harvest-coloured hide uses BioTAN technology, meaning increased use of natural tanning agents in the process, and is found throughout the Evergreen interior, from Recaro Pole Positions to roll cage.
This car has been built for Steve Rimmer, founder of the North American rally school DirtFish. He has taken delivery and plans to use it daily, after an appearance at Monterey Car Week. He said: “I have always harboured a passion for classic cars but my desire to own one only comes so long as it can maintain a lower environmental impact. I love that era of Porsche, with this commission, I really wanted to go down a route where you maintain as much of the originality as you can. This is something that I see as a bridge to how we may have to look at our enjoyment in the future, but still maintain our passion for motorsport. I want my kids to be able to enjoy things in the future.”
A price hasn’t been announced for this specific RSR commission, or the standard car for that matter. But bear in mind that a 964 Signature build from Everrati is from £290k plus tax and a decent 964 donor car and it’s easy to see how a carbon clad 964 RSR could be knocking on for half a million. Hopefully it’s money well spent for Mr DirtFish. And if it’s only increased the hankering for an old 911 of your own, perhaps with petrol power, there’s only one place to look…
Land Rovers, DeLorean (perfect), Karmann Ghia, perfect. Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, losing the engine takes away what it was all about.
Can't help thinking this would feel a little soulless and therefore disappointing considering the origin. Then again, I don't have a stable of cars therefore aren't considering this as part of a collection.
