19yr old daughter in 2nd year of Dental Nurse Apprenticeship. In September she had one day off work and phoned in sick. Got her salary paid in October and she was £500 short. Queried it with her manager and was told that she had been marked sick for that day, however she had never been marked as back at work. Payroll assumed she was still off sick. Line manager has told her she’s sorted it, help desk IT has said her query is closed. She accessed the payroll against her employee number she’s still shown as being off sick, spoke with her LM again and has been told it’s being dealt with! She’s worked another month of October and November and still can’t get this removed? It’s getting close to Xmas obviously and I feel she’s just getting the run around. Any ideas on how to help her break this circle?

Contact payroll directly, ask them to raise an urgent one off payment

Line manager should be sorting it as payroll will always refer back to line manager to confirm the duration of absence. Doing the line manager's job for them to raise it with payroll may help to speed things up though.
