Can anyone assist please ? 10-12 members ( I'm one !) of PCGB Region 15 ( South West ) are considering a drive down to the Nurburgring next Spring. Hoping to make it a 7 day trip. Any suggestions as to routes, places of interest/cities to visit. Also any recommendations as to accommodation etc. etc. etc.

What the man said... Ben Lovejoy's site has it all.

As for accommodation, if you are feeling rich, stay at the Dorint Hotel, on the GP CIrcuit. If you want the lads on tour camaraderie stay at Bren's hostelry in Dollondorf... www.slidersguesthouse.com

Book early for both; they're popular. Dorint because it's on the GP Circuit; Bren's because it's good value and very friendly. Oh and because Bren can show you the way around... he was keeping his E36 318iS (and four passengers) ahead of a 996GT3RS... he was the biker chap with 1000 odd laps under his belt that Clarkson interviewed when he went there in that Jag diesel.

I would'nt book anything until you see the dates for 2006 that get published towards the end of February. You wont have much fun if the track is hardly open!

Accomodation is generally not a problem unless you want to stay in Nurburg itself or its one of the big festivals (Oldtimers, DTM etc). But no one will be booking rooms until the dates are released...

....so the best advice is wait for the 2006 dates to be released

Coincide it with a Spa track day. they are very close together. This year Auto track had two days at Spa, then there was a day or two break followed by an RMA closed circuit day at the ring, which may seem expensive but so much better than public days. then that weekend was the european GP at the Nurburging. Look out for something similiar next year and you have yourself the perfect trip.

Oh and stay at the tiergarten, eat steak at the pistenklaus (get fat like me). Probably go visit Manthey, maybe because you may need to.

Other than that there is sweet FA to do around there. unless you take a mountain bike and fancy trekking through the hills/mountains

If Porsche drivers can't find somehting decent to do for a few days based in Nurburg - then they don't deserve to go.

Have you been out on the local roads - it IS driving heaven on Earth
And they have McDonalds.

Well the Cherie Bar is back open.... plenty of entertainment in Nurburg. And if you haven't taken your mullet to the Rock Club in Adenau, you haven't LIVED! It's hilarious

the roads are amazing, this is true. But after driving all day on the ring neither myself nor the car are intersted.

But i suppose on a free day there is some fab driving to take in.

Never been to any other towns. Not like i actually holiday there. Though have stopped in Koln, which was quite fun.

Having just spent 8 fantastic days there (with children) I beg to differ.

I'd recommend staying at the Hotel am Tiergarten. Its cheap (70 euros a night) and overlooks the Ring.

It also has the Plstenklause (sp) - where you can have your beer served by Sabine!!!

Is that a typo - what is Cherie Blair doing in Nurburg (or Adenau)?

Oh god ...

(Apologies for cutting above quote)

I was on that RMA trip for the GP weekend and would wholeheartedly reccomend RMA trip to the 'ring. They even included (free) grandstand tickets to F1 practice on Friday.

It may 'seem' expensive, but then you have the track to yourself and unlimited laps...better than 12 euros per lap...

I'd also reccomend Tiergarten; owned by Sabine's mum. Difficult to get a reservation though; it's only small and it's popular.

Blimey more slow brit registered porkers cluttering up the place eh!

Loads to see within an hour or so area of the 'ring, last yr all I did was ring in day & beers at night.

This yr took 5 days & as 'ring was only open in the late afternoons on the weekdays, so went out & about & I saw a lot more of the area, some really truely excelent hooning roads, some nice lakes you can go sailing on, take a boat trip etc & even take a dip on hot days- was over 30deg C most days on my trip this yr so quite refreshing.

Found a great back roads route from Spa to ring too, yes longer than direct route but really decent drive.

Lots of beers still at night tho!
