Hi.

Anyone out there the owner of a 993 cabriolet?

What are these like day to day?

Is the hood good?

Wind noise up and down?

Flex not too bad day to day?

Opinions on day to day usage (particularly regarding the babriolet aspect)much apprecated?

Thanks.

I have had mine about a year now and I have to say I can't find anything better to change it too, which is unusual as I usually get bored after 6 months.

The roof is great (compared to a TVR)

I have not noticed any flex at all in the car

The main options I could not live without are :

Air con (the car mists up wihch is a pain very easy to de mist with Ac)

I love the hard back sports seats very comfortable, I found the normal ones very uncomfortable

Hoods are about £1500 so worth negotiating on price if it needs a new one (mine does)

Any other questions drop me a line

had mine 6 months.it is an absolute dream car.
I've no air con and now the winter has set in am having to do a lot of demisting with the normal demister (its worth noting that air con is expensive to fix on these cars).
I had a z4 previously and it beats it in every dimension. I also like the targa but the roof on these can be problematic whereas with the cab it either gets slashed by a numpty or it doesn't!
When buying its worth checking its had the roof locking pins replaced as a recall from porsche. Also check the electric roof goes up and down with the car pointing up hill. This is a general indication of whether the whole system is in good nick.
Whatever anyone else says bear in mind that there were only ~ 842 993 c2 RHD cabs made which makes them pretty rare.
good luck.

... Call my Porsche pal, Colin, during working hours on: 0131 475 5000, and he will tell you about kiddy seats and which to choose.

I would wager the answer is "hardly any".

I have 2 of Porsche's own child seats for my 993 coupe, but offically they are only good for 9 months and up, and in reality >12 months is better.

Dan

Edited to add I see yours is 18 months old, so should be no problem. And to put a full stop at the end of my first para.

993 cab's have lap belts - and the rear seats are narrow & low down. My 7 year old doesn't find it too windy, & until he got too tall he could fit under the wind deflector..

wow, is RHD cabs so rare ? i thought the Recall suggesting a total 16,000 cabs, so many LHD.
i just got a RHD cab M/T. this is my second 993, the first one being a hardtop tiptronic.
thanks for the advice about checking the roof with the car pointing up hill.

btw, has anybody tried the wind deflectors from "essential styling" ?

Lovely car; had two when I had 2 little kids. no problem with the deflector up behind front seats or driving at a reasonable speeed or having really little kids (sitting low...). Good hood. Lovely noise. Moved on to GT3 but been thinking about buying one for the wife and kids. Only one weakness : aircon absolutely crap (like on all aircooled 911s). A future classic

so how do the kids get in the back seats with the deflectors installed ? climb in ?

btw, aircon is crap. in my previous 993, i had my system totally replaced (except the compressor) for US$1,000 equivalent, and it got better. i hope without the big glass rear window, the cabriolet could survive the summer better.

final question, what is the weight difference between a cabriolet, and a normal carrera ?
