Guys, My advice would be to get a letter (if possible) from a manager or even better a director in your company, detailing the fact that you won't be able to work without you can and risk loosing your job. You can say that you honestly thought you were driving within the speed limit and that the car was new (it's your first performance car) and you were unaware that you were travelling so fast. Tell them that as soon as you realised your speed you slowed down. A good one I've seen working is to find a woman who is quite heavily pregnant to go with you to the court. When you stand up infront of the judge, tell them that you MUST have your car to take your wife to the hospital because she's going to be giving birth any day soon! That one will always get you off with just a fine and perhaps 3 points. Anything over 100mph and they'll usually ban you. Good luck! - ChimeraWolf

Even pregnant women can get taxi's I've seen it on the Sky sport advert ! The other option is go to the opposite end of the spectrum and instead of saying your new to performance cars and didn't realise how fast you were going, which implies a lack of control and hence added danger. Try claiming that you only ever drive extremely fast cars on race tracks which has buggered you perception of speed and that it only felt like you were doing 70 because you'd been doing 150 all day ! I was actually stopped over the ton a few years ago on the M11 on my way home after a 8hr endurance race at Snetterton, I still got done but it did help by creating the impression that yes I was stupid and speeding (which you can't hide either way) but atleast I was fully in control and totally capable of driving at that speed. It also worked for Jenson Button in france if I remember rightly. Edited by mel on Thursday 6th September 08:21

From what I've read, being honest, contrite, apologising profusely and showing yourself to be a sensible, responsible sort of chap will help. Lies will get found out, and the magistrate has heard it all before. The work excuse seems to help, but you need to sound confident and be able to prove it. Good luck!!
