I collected my car from Dick Lovett, Bristol, and am surprised to report that it was a remarkably painless way to part with £150. It is my first personal experience of BMW service and on the basis of comments on this forum was prepared for the worst.
Whilst an oil change for £150 is perhaps excessive compared with Ford, Vauxhall et all, (and contrasts with experience with my previous car - Mazda dealer has now folded) the quality of customer service was superb. As examples - no wait to check the car in first thing in the morning (was expecting a queue), ditto at collection time, receptionist took plenty of time to explain the work undertaken, the fact that a minute bit of wheel corrosion means they will replace (not refurb) the alloy (will try & purloin the old!).
To cap it all, as it was raining, they got a "concierge" to retrieve my Z4 from the car park and parked it under a canopy to save me from a soaking.
Such care retains faith in the brand, and breeds loyalty with the dealer - which in turn could lead to a repeat purchase.
Rightly this forum is used to air grievances about the marque, and the dealers, however praise should be given where it is due.
To Richard James (and the unknown technicians, and also the salesman Andrew Brooking who put together a cracking deal a year ago) at Dick Lovett:
Keep up the good work and THANK YOU

Every now and again, someone restores your faith in good service.

Flat battery on the MINI... Called BMW at 5.30pm, they sent someone round by 7pm who replaced the battery in 10mins.
Credit where it's due!

It's due to BMW Tunbridge Wells
