Can you help. I'm looking to compile a list of top quality bodyshops throughout the UK, from the large companies to the one man band, and would like your help. If you can recommend someone in your area please feel free to do so.

I can also "recommend" some people as long as you think it's OK for some of the engine bay to be left in primer, have a boot that doesn't fit properly "forget" to paint some bits (e.g. mirrors) drop the car off a jack denting a chassis rail, overspray everywhere....

I had a small amount of work done at a small bodyshop next door to Joolz's workshop and can't fault it. If you want an independent opinion ask Joolz as he had a look at it before and after.

Twas cash in hand too.....

From our very own PH news..

COACHWORKS ONLINE Today

Ewelme coachworks are now online with a smart site that aims to promote their skills with Lotuses. They claim to have particular experitise with reflex paints. Check them out at www.lotusbodyrepairs.net

[they seem to have a large number of TVR testimonials on their site...]

Echoing Jousts comments for a minute.

I have used Ewelme on two occasions and both times they have been absolutely fantastic. John is a pleasure to deal with and the quality of their work is absolutely outstanding. I would not hesitate to recommend.

John Newman Bodyworks, Gamlingay (near Cambridge). Resprays that look like the car is straight off the factory line. Did my 350i and Chimaera. Speak to Mick.

What was the cost like at Ewelme, I found them to be very expensive quote £1,000+ for a front end (very good rep though).

I too can thoroughly recommend Ewelme ..... they replaced a door and resprayed for me and I have yet to find a join or a visible run in the paint. John's a real nice chap as well.

Used Davies Motor Co in Cardiff for my S1 recently:

Plus points: Superb paint finish, knowlegeable refinish speciaist, nice people, knew GRP, good premises.

Minus points: Broken glovebox, air ducts left to melt on manifold, bonnet alignment poor, bootlid wouldn't open, kept car a week before doing any work, not cheap.

Overall: Painted by experts, assembled by numpties. Gave me something to fiddle with I suppose.

My FER including a tiny amount of GRP work was about £1400 so quite pricey in comparison I suppose but there is nothing worse than a bad spray job so I think it was well worth it...
