I just thought I'd share something that got my goat this weekend.

Has anyone seen this new version of RUF's original Faszination film from 1989? Well, a friend of mine has just returned from Germany (having made a brief visit to the RUF factory) and as per my wishes, bought me back a copy of the new 2 disc DVD.... oh how excited I was to get around his house and pick it up!

Until he told me I now owed him £49!! For a 2 disc DVD!! To justify the extortionate price, I thought that this must be the best DVD in the world ever.

Disc 1 is the original Faszination film (in English & German) and lasts a good 18mins at best. Granted watching a Yellow Bird leg-it round the 'Ring is good, but I thought there'd be more....
Disc 2 "Faszination Plus, The RUF Story" (in English, German & Spanish) is told by Alois RUF himself and is a good story, but at 35mins long, seemes a bit short.

Mmmm, £49 for this is not what I'd call good value and I can now see why it's not sold in any shops. I was thinking of re-selling it on eBay, but I severly doubt anyone would give me close to it's original price. I was even considering putting my DVD burner into action and selling copies of it on there, but that wouldn't be the smartest idea in the world either.

I feel quite pee'd off. I like Mr Ruf and especailly love his cars, but I feel majorly shafted by this.

Sorry for the rant, I just thought anyone considering spending this much cash on a DVD would be interested to know just how short it is.

356Speedster - I agree. I had my name down for notication when the DVD became available last year, but upon seeing the price I decided not to buy one. In the end, it is promotional material for Ruf, so why they are trying to turn a profit on it, especially at that level, I really can't grasp.

It would have fitted on one DVD by the sounds of it!

Thats a shame that you didnt enjoy it, i believe that the high price was due in part to the limited numbers that will be sold, and also the fact that the nurburgring cost a fortune to rent and use their intellectual right.

all the best

Yup, I'd have bought one for 20 quid. Not for 50 though.

Agree - One DVD, £20 - they'd sail out the door.

The original seems to be trading fairly frequently on Ebay

I think those are (illegal) copies.
