Hi - I'm new to the Porsche forum.

Have been looking for a while at a classic porsche to use as my regular car. I work from home and don't do too many miles a week (and we have the family diesel for the hard slog journeys). Recently purchased a Fiesta ST as it was the right money to tide me over while i considered options.

Thought about doing the Chesil route, but have really started to get interested in a 911 3.2 Carrera Sport. Strikes me as a bit more practical (can fit my hubby and son inside) and hopefully fan those 80s dreams....

any thoughts on something better or if this is a good route to go?

On topic, the chesil Speedster looks utterly gorgeous, and given the cost (and rarity) of a real one, the Chesil is a good idea... if I had a garage and some space for a 3rd car then I'd love one. It's probably feasible to make the Chesil a reliable daily driver (excepting weather, of course) as well, given the mechanicals underneath.

The 3.2 Carrera is a Porsche.

A Chesil Speedster isn't.

A 3.2 will be a good reliable car to have for the weekends. It is still an entertaining drive and you can cover long distances in comfort. The chesil is a different beast altogether. I guess you need to work out if you want a soft top or not, and whether you intend doing long journeys in the car. If so are you prepared to put up with the road manors of the chesil?

I'd suggest you drive a chesil and see if you like it.

They are good cars as long as you keep on top of the servicing. They are hard work at slow speeds and are a drivers car so you will have no problems there.Open roads are great ,city driving awful.Get the G 50 model, good luck.

A 3.2 is perfect for this. See my response to "Midlife crisis".

It's also a pretty wonderful car fo Monday to Friday and a good one is reliable, frugal, lightweight, exciting - ocassionaly scary, inspired, practical and an alround pleasure.
I commute beween Radlett and Uxbridge (25 miles each way) every day in an low mileage, GPW '89 Carrera SC. If you ever get up before 10 Henry you will hear me go past......
A wonderful design, ideal for those that have tired todays driver aided Uber machines.
Get yourself into one before everyone realises.

Great cars and a few good ones out there at the moment ... this one will may be joining them after it's trip down to Monaco on EuroHoon (the darker side is beckoning once again )

Must say, value wise it's the best bang per bucks car I think I've ever had

ok, why's the picture not showing?!

It's bloody stupid photo box which has replaced Fotango. You cannot simply get a URL that can be viewed.

Right, best move all my images ... anyone recommend the best one to use?
