Below is an extract from an email sent to me by my farther. What do you guys think about it. It seems a bit much that your car falls to pieces when you get a little suntan lotion spilled. (Probably the DMSO solvent)

By the way mum was using sun screen lotion and leaned on the central
console where the gear shift and hand brake are located. Guess what, it
acted as a solvent and the top material on the plastic started to peal off
over an 1" area. I will have to go the dealer and ask them to hopefully
replace it. It should be durable for things like that?

Shold have gone for a 'tan' interior in the first place.........

I know, I know.......sorry.

Seriously though, you'd think it would be a bit more durable than that? 'Tis the season, so we should all take heed of this.

If your bus pass is going to drop through the door in the next couple of years, then yes you may well be old enough.

I would have expected the steering wheel to be much more hard wearing.

If it is the DMSO (dimethylsulphoxide) in the suntan cream then it has been used for many years to do the job. It is not any where near as harmful to you as the sun, just a shame you cannot say the same for the car. It does make you breath smell though (in a large quantity), some thing to remember when chatting to the girls on the beach.

Perhaps the need to meet ever tighter health and safety regs dictates the use of more friendly in the automotive industry. Roll on the water soluble car
