Well, after some more investigation, it seems that my problems are not coil related, but more likely the dizzy?

Coil is getting a 12v ignition live, but no spark. Replaced with another (duplicate) coil and still no dice.

Rather than running an MSD 6AL, my car runs a combo of the MSD Blaster SS coil and the Pro-Billet PN8360 Ready-to-run dizzy. The dizzy is basically a points replacement that used a hall effect sensor to trigger the spark. However, for some reason, the dizzy isn't triggering bu99er all!

Any idea how I can test it?

There are three wires from it which go to coil +, coil - and earth.

The dizzy does not produce anything unless it is spining unlike points where you can test a make and break.
You may want to take it out and spin it up with a drill.

You say it is wire coil +, coil - & earth so where does the ignition live come in?

Just Googled and found www.msdignition.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=8 which may be of use.

Found this (which is pretty self evident anyway!) from a chap with the exact same problem:

Bloke with problem says:
"Quick background: 350cid Chevy installed in a '90 Jeep Wrangler. Ignition system consists of 6AL box, Blaster-II coil, and #8360 RTR distributor. Everything has been working great for many many months. This weekend, I went to crank it up, but was greated with nothing but prolonged cranking. Determined I'm not getting spark...

I have double and triple checked all wiring, and it's all good an in line with the MSD instructions. I tried the coil spark test using the white trigger wire from the 6AL box, per the instruction manual. No spark from the coil. So, I swapped coils with a new Blaster-II and tried it again (as recommended by the instructions). Still no spark...

At this point, since I have the RTR distributor, I took the 6AL out of the loop and wired the ignition system like a "normal" stock system using the wiring diagram that came with the #8360 distributor. Still no spark...

The only things I could think of at this point were: 1.) the key-on +12vdc wire that feeds the distributor loses power when I crank, or 2.) the distributor is bad and not sending it's signal to the coil. So, I unhooked the +12vdc feed wire and plugged my test light up to it: sure enough, I've got +12vdc when I crank...

Sooooooooo, does this mean that my distributor has given up the ghost???"

MSD say:
"One last testing procedure you can try is taking a lead wire from the (+) battery terminal and running it to the coil (+) terminal with only the red wire from the distributor. Take the orange to the coil (-) and run a jumper wire from the black wire to the battery (-). If the vehicle starts at this point, the only way to stop it is by disconnecting the battery. If the vehicle doesnt start at this point you will need to send in the distributor for testing/repair. Call us @ 915-855-7123 for further information on returning the distributor for testing/repair."

So looks like a direct connection from a 12v source to the coil will serve as a test.
