I think with the might and depth of pocket available to the council you'd be wasting your money. The legal fees would outweigh the repair cost anyway. I reckon you'd have more luck against TVR for not securing the battery properly,ie, none. It's life, live with it!

Dave, I wouldn't threaten them with legal action - just go on writing to them in a reasonable tone until they submit. I damaged both near-side alloy wheels on a deep sharp-sided hole a while back, and the Council stumped up £700. The Council admitted the hole should have been MARKED WITH A WARNING SIGN, but perhaps the outcome was influenced by a girl on a bicycle hurting herself quite badly that evening (same pothole). Try it, and good luck.

Brilliant idea. Dave do you have a daughter you could go and throw down the hole, you could then unleash those Ambulance chasing leaches Claims whatever it is.

You say your S2 hit this pothole? Were you not in it at the time? Given that it was of sufficient size to cause this damage do you not think you bear some responsibility for looking where you are going or would you prefer not to be bothered and that the cost of insurance and services go up to compensate for your lack of forward observation? Mhibbins, it could have been a 'pothole' as found near where my parents live.. 8*6 feet and 2 ft deep.... I have to drive on the Other side of the road to avoid some of them

I don't know. It's not very sporting though, is it? I know a guy who has a road legal Tuscan racer & apparently horse s**t is a real problem at speed. - Gets scooped up by the (very low) front splitter thingy & shovelled onto the hot radiator. Mmmmm nice!! Marcus & Ocean Haze Griff 500

You should try cleaning it out of the radiator on your motorcycle with nothing more than your wife's toothbrush - it's no laughing matter. -- Mark

- the pothole was not easy to see, and as it was in direct line of the offside front wheel, and reasonably wide I had a split second to make a choice - swerve left and hit the kerb, swerve right and hit a car coming towards me, or hold tight....and before you ask...I was doing 30 in a 30 mph area
30mph?... itchy chin May I suggest replacing the battery strap at the earliest opportunity? I'll get my coat. -- Mark Edited by mhibbins on Friday 21st September 15:00

Mel Maybe you should pop back to H&H, explain that TVR owners are unhappy with potholes and ask them to do the public a service by getting their horses to fill them up!
