Had car into OPC yesterday for some work. Got a phonecall, "two of your Tyres are a bit worn", "Just under 3mm left, shall we replace them, its our policy when there just on tread wear indicators". I was pre-occupied at work, and stupidly just said yes.

So now I have, on the front, one brand new tyre and one just over indicator. Same on rear..

Is this wise? Will dry / wet handling be affected?

I'll not post how much OPC Charged for tyres as I will cry..

eeek, no this is not a good idea, can't believe an OPC would refit a worn tyre to one side and a new tyre to the other side, don't they know about axle pairs?

I wasn't sure. The "worn" tyre is still in legal limits but seemed a bit daft to me at the time. But needed to pay bill and get away. Pi**ing down when I left and first roundabout back slid away from. I drive like a girl (no offence girls) so was a bit shocked..

This is amazing!!!

I really cannot imagine what they are thinking of. I would take it back and due to the safety risk either have them removed and money back (so you can get a better deal elsewhere), or have another 2 new tyres fitted with a large discount.

You should always try to have each axle with similar wear on each side.

Sounds very strange that an OPC would fit mismatched tyres.

Get the situation fixed asap.

Waiting for service manager to return call. Thanks for advice however I doubt he will either take them off (mine prob on mechanic car now) or discount.. More likely empty wallet again..

Guy at OPC reckons they are fine. He said one at just over 3mm on rear and a new one is ok. Im not convinced though..
So I'll try and get some a bit "keener" priced..
