Vesuvius
I saw this thread from you
www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.

I've managed to (stupidly) crap the paint on the nose of my 996 too.
Can you let me know how your repair has held up over the long term?
If it's still good, then I'll give chips-away a go too. Otherwise the local body shop is talking about new bumpers and big money... They tell me that the cracks can re-appear after a simple respray with this type of problem.
Thanks
Jon

Hello mate.

It has held up very well, a bargain. Not 100% perfect but 95% there. If and whern I come into some spare cash I may well do an OPC respray for the nose section.

One word of warning though, make sure you are very carful with it when it's just been done. 24 hours after I had mine fixed up I went to France in the hot weather. The flies which hit it were sufficiently hard at "pressing on" speeds to leave a faint mark in the paint.

I'd give Chipsaway a call and get them to do it, but make sure you let it cure and wax it before you use it in anger.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Excellent, thanks for that & extra advise.
95% is good enough for me - compared to the cost savings. Not to mention the chance of me or the girlfriend donkeying it up again ....
I'll give them a call.
Best
Jon

No problems.

Do be careful with it for a few days and wax it before you drive anywhere in anger....
