Thought these had stabilised around 210/230 bid/offer until this sub 200k one. Its high mileage, prob on SOR, and might have a story to it....

I enjoyed mine - and at these levels it tempts me more than a 599, but I'm still annoyed at Porsche for their pathetic warranty stance - how can they not stand behind their own supercar. It gives you a problem when coming to sell as takes away the entire OPC network (Silvertstone did a brilliant job of selling mine last time when the independants went running a mile. These were the same independants who'd be SO keen to sell it to me in the first place....!)

The silver sub 200 car has sold ,last price i saw for the car was 189!Its not high miles realy, can only be a good buy at this price. Some one has chopped his lambo in for it.
Just goes to show what will happen to your cgt when you use it though, now how much will that be per mile.
It will be interesting to see what happens this winter with most cars falling out of warranty etc
I am still resisting buying one yet, lots for sale again.German opc are buying cars back from the usa and now trying to sell at full list, once converted back to euro spec.
Not sure which car now loses the most money, the kettles or the cgt.
At least the CGT is a special car unlike the late porsches.

I'm very surprised. Dealt with them on prob 10 cars since they took over the franchise, and always been impressed with everything, from bids on my cars to customer service.

Berg - no question these are becoming value. Compare a CGT to a 599 for the same price (which is exactly what they'll be. My 599 is now cancelled partly due to this - I'm fed up with taking 50k hits on V12 Ferrari's in less than 12 months. Warranty issue aside, the CGT would get my vote everytime at this price

Nice of them to put 'sold subject to finance' on the advert for the £189k Carrera GT! Sure the new owner will appreciate everyone knowing he's got 'strap on it!

All very tricky to second guess what prices will do. Owners want to keep the prices high, some dealers still asking silly billy list prices for used cars, I suspect there may be a little cartel in the background.

At the end of the day the buyer's will dictate prices for these cars. I'm sure when some have 10k miles on, no warranty they will be sub £200k.

Your money is far safer in a CGT even if you pay £50K more than a 599. The 599 is not "a supercar" it's a very fast front engined Ferrari which could be used everyday. Not knocking the car but there is no comparison between the two.
For examples of the Ferrari lossing money look at the past models:
550-575 etc

Too right! The consideration is that at the moment the 993GT2 is over time rising in value, is relatively cost effective to maintain and track, and would not be to costly to insure/repair.

Carrera GT is on another level cost, insurance, repair - although no-one is really sure as they are only just coming out of warranty.

Imagine a potential scenario, selling the GT2 (which would be tricky to replace due to numbers/condition) and buying a Carrera GT which dropped another £50k in value and you fluffed a gearchange when the warranty had expired!

I think if the price difference between the two was much closer it may be harder to resist!

took my dad there to buy 996c2 - they said they didnt have any!?!?! - refused any kind of test drive - tried to sell me a 996c4s - he bought a 996c2 elsewhere

i went there looking for a 996gt2 - they said they didnt have any - i bought a 964rs and a gt2 elsewhere

i took a freind there looking for a gt3rs - no one would talk to us seriously - certainly no test drive - he bought a murcialago

i don't even bother looking in anymore.

Oh, and on that subject of fluffing gear changes and the like....

I always found the clutch much easier than magazines would have you believe, but the gears much easier to get wrong. I changed from 6 to 2nd, missing 4th, on more than one occasion. The clue to this was the rev counter soaring towards 5 figures.....

If you fluffed a gearchange under warranty or when it's expired I doubt they would do the job. Driver error.....

Perhaps, I was trying to highlight the cost differential of such a repair.

Thanks for that. I think that it is getting really interesting for current 993 GT2 owners as the price of CGTs gets closer to the 993. I completely agree with what you said, it would be brave to go for a CGT that is out of warranty, if you pinged the engine of either car or lunched the gear box, the CGT would be much more expensive to fix. Plus things like brake discs are cheap on the 993. Servicing the 993 is cheap too (relatively speaking).

But if the prices were equal and we knew a bit more about the running/repair costs and reliability of the CGT, I would go for the CGT over the 993 GT2. It's 80% of a Mac F1 for 20% of the price.
