Its done 2.5k miles odd.

Now I need a MOT and I suppose the annual service OR do I ?

With such low milage car is stored in heated garage does it need a service again this year.

Yes it does just to keep the service book correct, not easy selling a tt with wrong service history.

Oil should be changed every year regardless of mileage as should brake fluid every 2 years.

Do the oil yourself and the brake fluid if your ok with this - then get them to do an annual service minus the above and it will be a lot cheaper....

W.T.F. You own a £50k car (possibly more ?) and you are listening to people who try and save you twenty quid by doing a bit of Morris Minor service work on your lovely block paved drive. Indeed you are even questioning if it`s worth spending a few pounds for the annual service.

Don`t be so silly. Get the car booked in for a service with someone who services Porsches for a living. They will do the job correctly and will check over the car looking to nip potential problems in the bud. That lower trailing arm link that cracked when you went over a pot hole in September.... when it snaps at 97mph you will die as the car veers off the road.

Or you could have it picked up in the service, changed and carry on your merry way.

We do not undertake service work ourselves favouring the network of specialists discovered after many years of searching. There is a list of service garages on our website. www.911virgin.com/spanners.htm

Have to agree with Henry here - for £300 odd quid, it seems a small price to pay for peace of mind?

Plus, without it, your warranty is invalid i think? Of course, you may have saved money and not taken a warranty, so that may not be an issue

For low mileage cars OPC do the annual service and I know Cambridge MOT the car for free!

(I know big deal, what you save on MOT costs you get screwed on labour, but it's a nice touch and you don't have to worry about putting correct number plates on!)

Perhaps we disagree on this Henry - I respect your point of view and regard your comments highly on this board - but IMO you are taking the 'Porsche will do it properly' or 'they will give you car a free 60K service for free' a little too far. Changing the oil on a 911 has got to one of THE easiest things to do - if anybody wants to pay dealer or even specialist rates for labour and then top dollar for Mobil 1 (or whatever they decide to put in..) then fine - but my comments are valid. If you are a mechanically minded enthusiast, then this is not 'morris minor' service work, it is getting together with the machine that you drive. IMO of course ...
