I’ve got H&R coilovers and 18” wheels on my 993 C2……and I’m looking to make the handling as good as possible for weekend fun (and some track) use.

Will lightweight wheels (eg. BBS or similar) make any noticeable difference/improvement, or should I spend the money on something else (eg Recaro/GT3 seats).

What wheels do you have now and what do they weigh?

This website has some useful info about Porsche wheel weights: www.944racing.de/felgengewichte.html

Worth checking that there is some weight to save.

Do you have the steering rack brace (recommended for 18" wheels)?

Other possible handling mods:

Strut brace: cheap and easy
LSD: about 2K all in
Bucket seat(s): as much money as you care to spend - but I got a very nice GT3-style carbon bucket seat for about £350 (VS and I bought a pair between us)
Harness(es)

Wheel weights don't make a huge difference in these sizes if you're talking about 0.5kg here and there, you have to shave a couple of kilos or more of each wheel to really feel the difference.

With a decent seat and harness, like the *winged* GT3 seat, you can really feel a lot more through the seat of your pants (literally) and being in that much better communication with the car allows you to push much closer to the limit than you might otherwise.

My 993tt was several seconds a lap quicker on any track you care to mention with a GT3 drivers seat simply because i could feel what the car was doing underneath me.

My wheels are the cup3 turbo look (see my profile pic) and according to the your very useful link weigh 13.2kg front and 13.3kg rear scratchchin. They may not be OEM, so perhaps more....

Am I right in thinking that my car should have the steering rack brace as it is a 1996 model.

Carbon buckets for £350 each? Where?

As far as I know they're only really needed for cars up to '95 with 18" wheels. For cars from '96 onwards Porsche modified the suspension so you don't need the bracket.

You can buy them here though....

Driver training may also be worth considering - Don Palmer is excellent, money well spent.
