SLR Camera Lenses - Fisheye in particular
Discussion
Hi,
I'm after a Fisheye lens for my EOS cameras as I like the effect you can get from them. I've narrowed it down to the following:
SIGMA 15MM F2.8 EX DG CANON AF: www.cameras2u.com/products/details.cfm?PRODUCT=476927
CANON EF 15mm f/2.8 FISH EYE: www.cameras2u.com/products/details.cfm?PRODUCT=2535A004AA
On paper they're exactly the same, but the Canon is £100 more or thereabouts. Is the £100 more justified? I've heard good trhings about Sigma lenses, I'm just wondering if there are any pearls of wisdom on here, or if anyone else knows of another lens that's equally as good, or maybe someone has one they don't want and would sell me?
TIA

Should have gone to Nikon
I suppose it's a combination of factors like what your budget will stand and how much use you are expecting to make of one?
Excuse my ignorance but are you talking EOS film or digital - and if digital, is it a dreaded cropped sensor size? (I know the pita that is losing a 20mm to become nearer 28mm and then getting NAS with a forced 14mm purchase!)

Digital, I've got an EOS 300 and 400.
300 sensor size: 22.7 x 15.1 mm
400 sensor size: 22.2 x 14.8 mm
So they've both got a 22mm sensor.

You'll need to go wider than 15mm, then.
Otherwise the sensor will only take the central portion and not give you the full 180 degree effect.
Sigma 8mm? Tokina/Tamron zooms that start at 10 or 11mm? Canon must do an equivalent of Nikon's nifty little 10.5mm - does someone know?

Well you can get 8mm Fisheye which is what has been suggested that I get - sigma do one for £380 or thereabouts which is also AF, so that seems pretty good....

Where have you seen it for £380? It's more like £500 on warehouseexpress
