Has anyone ever used memcheck?

What is delphi? And can I just download memcheck, and run it on my WindowsXP Dell?

Thanks

No.

Deplhi is a programming language. If the download is compressed look inside if you see a file that ends in .exe you're ok.

If not, then the swines want you to compile it. So no, be default, it won't run on Windows XP unless you install Delphi and compile the program first.

Go here www.memtest.org/#downiso download the prebuilt ISO that is in a zip. Extract. Burn to a CD.

Boot computer from CD and it will test your the RAM in your computer, I assume that's what you're after?

I've used Memcheck+ several times. It's very small so it will fit on a floppy - there's a bootable floppy download on the site. Let it run overnight to give the memory a thorough workout.

install memcheck to a floppy disk

put the floppy into the drive and rest the pc, enter the bios and set the pc to boot from the floppy first and then the hard drive otherwise it might not work - my pc set to boot from hard drive first.

as previolsyl mentioned, an overnight run helps.

also good to get compressed air can, blow out all the fluff and dust from the motherboard, fan filters, fans etc. take out the ram and replace, touch a radiator or tap to ground yourself from static electricity first - sometimes refitting helps

Thanks all. Will give that a go.

Ive also been advised to give Sisoft Sandra.
Is it best to use that first, or do the scan first?

Cheers

You're looking for the key to enter setup when you first turn the pc on. If you get a picture when you turn your pc on, press escape and you should be able to see the text. It's most likely F12 or Del. Once in, you're looking for the boot order (have a rummage - you can always escape without changes). Make sure either the floppy or cd drive (depending on preference) gets booted before the hard drive.
