If I order a new mobile phone contract, can I apply for a PAC code in a couple of weeks time on the existing contract (O2) then port that number onto the new contract (T Mobile) once that new contract has been running a couple of weeks?

i.e is it only possible to port a number onto a contract or can you do it at any point during that contract?

Correct. You can request a PAC at any time during your contract, and it is valid for 30 days. This allows you to get another contract with another provider, then move your number over. You normally have a maximum of 6 months to move a number to the new contract, but this is often waived. Hope this helps.

I don't mean requesting the PAC code, I mean giving it to the new network.

You can normally give it any time within the first 6 months of the new contract. Is that what you mean?
