Is this what speeding and plod was designed for
I could live with it till we started the "how fast in a 30" thread. Answer 130mph
Now thats responsible!

Is a bit silly, but I replied to the 'fasted in a 30', as I got 'stitched up'

I'm no speeder, and it was (still is?) a piss poor layout/poor signposting'/late change from 30 to NSL.

It certainly made me more conscious of speed limits which I didn't break much anyway.

I haven't replied to the 'fastest on road' thread as I have never driven over 105mph, and only then to get away from some tw@t in a van who was playing silly buggers on the motorway.

Indeed.

Seems the average age of the PH reader has dropped by ten years recently.

Just been browsing the 'outrun cops' thread. Oh dear.

I had a pop at the how fast in a 30 thread. Pathetic knob massage most of this stuff, hopefully when the holidays end next week we'll resume normal service. It takes an awful lot for me to be in favour of the kind of anti speed policies we have in the UK, these threads do add justification to their existence, if the authorities are battling people as stupid as are in the outrun cops thread.

I've just been in the speeding forum for the first time in months and it's like a bunch of kids playing top tumps in the play ground but at least it keeps them busy and we can chat in peace.

Yes, it's becoming more of a struggle to find car-related topics...

Let's keep this in proportion chaps. Apart from the 'how fast shall I pretend I've been on the road' thread the rest of it is reasonable isn't it?

Don't get me wrong, I think you should leave them to it. The rest of pistonheads is excellent with brilliant assistance/advice/chat from everyone. If we can keep the 'top-trumpers' and the 'how do I get off my speeding ticket?' people in one place then so much the better

Mark

Ted, some of the threads (outrun cops and how fast in the 30) sound like they've come directly from pax mower dot com.

We need more ruthless moderators!

hmm. I seem to have posted on both the outrun cops (though I may have been trolling somewhat on that one ) and how fast on the road threads
But the how fast in a 30 one was way too much for me You can argue until the cows come home about the rights and wrongs of high speed in wide NSL roads on clear dry days(the only circumstance in which I would contemplate speeds above 85mph), but none but an idiot would regard 130 in a 30 (in the unlikely event of this being true) as anything other than intolerably dangerous and stupid.
IMHO the big moderating stick should be waved a bit more forcefully ATM.

I tend to open these type of threads up read the first couple of comments then ignore them as eventually many of them turn to slanging matches.

Ted in my opinion these type of threads should be killed at birth

Well i see you killed one yesterday (i.e locked)

the other is
www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=36677&f=10&h=0

Going by the title "how fast in...." they logically would follow to the same conclusion?

Quickly read the unlocked one no abuse but its very much in the "boy racer line" it dosent(in my opinion give a very good image

Sorry if i appear to be a it of a killjoy Ted

Yes. Miserable g1t
Seriously pies, I don't agree on the 'how fast on the public road' thread necessarily as most of the quotes pertain to Germany, France, other places with a sensible motorway policy and any thread with a 'performance' bent will bring out the MaxMuppets, so this might end up going down a route that would alienate some of the relatively sensible 'gassers.'

Two points I have re read the thread and it appears the A1 ,A303 M11,M27,A38 Little Eaton etc must have been relocated abroad
The second point and im not sure weather you agree or not,is the thread ultimatelly leads to "i've driven faster than you.....no you havent" and then the slanging starts
So why not stop them before it starts?

I'm afraid it's all over by now.
There are speed cameras all over the place, I even saw one in a village lost in the middle of nowhere.
I did 1,200 miles this week and saw something like 15 of these in all kind of places.

(Nowhere to have fun except on a track now...)
