It's very common in the UK for private aircraft as well.

timeshare you own the 'time' i.e. a slot per year, whereas with fractional ownership you actually own a share of the property - and get the benefit of value rises if you later sell.. looks promising, especially as the bahamas are tax free and you can pass it on as part of your 'estate'...

Isn't a leasehold an ownership of "time" as well?

Many flats, apartments etc are sold as "99 year Leases" or "100 year leases". The right you are buying is limited in time.

dotdog - if you are a UK tax resident, if it was part of your "estate" at death it would be taken into account for UK Inheritance Tax purpsoses. The fact that it might be in the Bahamas is irrelevant.

It's still posh timeshare though.

1/8 interest: $325k
1/4 interest: $600k
Full ownership: $2.6m

I'll take 4x 1/4 interests, please. Would be worried by a company that can't do their basic arithmetic!

If you pay any credence to global warming, the Bahamas probably aren't a good long term investment, by the way. Not that I do.
