What websites are good for getting good deals on mobiles? I seem to recall one where you could choose your free offer, cashback, or whatever - or not to have such things. My Google-fu is weak, and I can't find it.

What sites would the PH Mobile Phone Glitterati recommend?

Well, now that we know who it is, it doesn't fall under the name and shame title.
So, spill the beans, although I'm sure we each have a tale to tell about one company or another that others have not had any hassles with.

Not going to piss off Ted by going into too much detail, but it involved a phone being sent to the wrong person (at the other end of the country) and some borderline fraudulent account signup malarky that left me £200 out of pocket and threats of legal action against the supplier and a certain fruity-sounding telecoms company. irked

Last week my Son rang Orange to cancel his contract, he was at the end of the 12 months and wanted a better deal.
Told person that answered call he wanted to cancel, they put him through to 'retentions' dept.
Offered new phone and better deal, was on 200 mins & 100 texts, now on 500mins & 200 texts for the same price.

Might be worth a try.

Only other advice I'd give is stay clear of 'cash back' deals - the Co's rely on you forgetting or the t&c's are so tight that it's near impossible to get your money back.

I used Uswitch.com to compare deals, then rang T-Mobile at the end of my contract. They were offering thr phone for £145 (Nokia N73 as an upgrade) and the tariff I was on was 200mins & 100 texts for about £30.

After checking Uswitch, I told them that I could get (on O2) a free phone, and a tarriff for 400 mins & 200 texts for £23 p/m after cashback.

T-mobile matched it with flext 35 on a 12 month contract, but with increased allowances, web'n'walk "unlimited" data and all for £28 pcm inc VAT.

Right result. thumbup to T-Mobile.

Also, register as a business (sole trader) to get unlimited free voicemail (more options than standard) free itemised billing, and you get a dedicated business customer service support people.

I've had one cash back deal on a phone, had no problems getting it back- that was 'onestopphoneshop'
but now its far more common you hear a lot of negatives about it,
I am with o2, coming up to upgrade and dont want a new phone, my 810i is so good I cant better it,
found a deal with the main providers which are 1 month rolling contracts, £20 for 400 texts and 100 minutes (o2)
will be calling them up today to enquire more about this
