My brand new Tuscan S Mk2!
Discussion
Picked up my brand new Tuscan S from Ciceley's yesterday morning. Ryanair flight from Stansted to Blackpool for £30 and a short hop on the train to Preston to meet Paul Munday, the dealer principal. That's Paul in the photo running through the hand-over.
Well, all I can say is that I am totally inspired by this car, my third TVR in 15 years. I recently sold my beloved Griff 500 which I'd owned for 10 years from new and, to be honest, was a little unsure whether the Tuscan could match it in my affections. That fear was allayed just as soon as one of the service guys drove my Tuscan onto Ciceley's forecourt. It looked absolutely stunning in the morning sunshine, and the mystic black paintwork suits the Tuscan perfectly in my opinion. I do think Tuscans look so much better in the flesh than in pictures.
I dithered for several weeks about whether to get a Sagaris or Tuscan and was in fact helped in my decision by 'the Pits' and his excellent comparative reviews of his experiences with both cars. Like him, it essentially came down to the roof-off option but I have to admit to preferring the sleek lines of the Tuscan to those of the Sagaris. However, if I was in a position to own both, then I most certainly would do.
I called in to meet ex-TVR employees Heath Briggs and Paul Forrest at their garage base in Kirkham before setting off for Essex and was very well looked after with tea, lunch and fascinating tales of goings-on at TVR prior to the factory closure. Heath also very kindly ran through some of the finer points of Tuscan ownership with me. I look forward to entrusting the beast's servicing to these two hugely experienced guys.
The drive back to Chelmsford was fantastic. Significantly more attention from fellow motorists than the Griff used to get and I already realise I've made just the right decision in swapping to a Tuscan. The car feels completely planted with its Bilsteins all round and I'm particularly impressed at how well it handles bumps in the road which would have had the Griff darting all over the place! This is my first experience of the Speed Six engine and already I love the sound and power delivery which, when it is finally unleashed after the running-in period, promises to be truly awesome. The V8 afficionados told me I'd miss the torque of the Griff, but even below 4,000rpm and with a tight engine this Tuscan already feels much quicker and there's certainly no lack of low down torque as far as I'm concerned. The thing that surprises me most, however, is how quickly I've fallen in love with it. I expected to need a few weeks to really appreciate its virtues but I already adore it after just 300 miles. I can certainly see myself holding onto it for the next ten years, that's for sure.

Well Done Phil, You said you were thinking about changing at the Blackpool Rally in November. Thought you might have gone for a convertible. Did you get a good deal from Ciceley??? Out of interest ...What did they say about warranty??
When you come up for your 1000 mile service with Heath, let me know and I'll pop down to look at your car. By the time you've driven to and from Essex ,you'll have done a 1000 mile. You won't be disappointed with Heath and Paul doing your servicing...did my 6,000 service a month ago and the cars great....Keith

Thanks for the kind comments, guys. Keith - Ciceley have given me a year's warranty with Autoprotect which will be converted to 3 years if/when TVR gets up and running again and, yes, I got a very good deal, also helped by the fact that I didn't have a part-ex. I'll certainly give you a call when I come back up for the service (can you email me your mobile number, please?) and I'd also like to pop in to see you, too, Dave in Blackpool if that's ok.
In answer to your other question, Keith, I just prefer the lines of the Targa to the Convetible, particularly with the roof on. As one of my friends commented last night, it really makes it look like a mini Le Mans GT racer. Ultimately, the 'Vert probably looks a tad prettier with the roof down, but I don't really like its rounded roof panel. In the meantime I've become so obsessed with the beauty of the Tuscan's paintwork that for the first time ever I've done some research on PH about the proper way to wash and wax a car and am about to pay Halford's a visit for some lambswool wash mitts, Meguiar's waxes and microfibre drying towels. The chamois and sponges will shortly be consigned to the bin!

Wow! Absolutely stunning. You must have one of the very last tuscans from new and I think it looks particularly good with the standard rear aero as opposed to the bigger 'S' one. I'll wager it'll improve top speed a touch too. Have you had the roof off yet? It's such a great car to look at and drive roof on that you can forget the roof comes off. But when you do you'll be in no doubt about your choice. Glad I could be of assistance regarding the choice and more importantly that you're happy you made the right one! I too would have kept my Sagaris in an ideal garage but mind you, there'd also be a Mk 1 tuscan S in there too! The handling on the later tuscans is very good and a lot of the stuff that's written on here doesn't apply to later cars, which all have a Sagaris inspired set up. The bilsteins are excellent and don't need changing imo. Here's to a great summer for all tuscan owners!
Congrats mate - I took delivery of my 07 plate about 3 weeks ago-ish. Still not had time to post up any decent pics. Yours has same dash and spoiler as mine too. Nice colour choice.
Hope it all works out with the Preston dealer - i'm possibly going to be using them for servicing too.
I wouldn't mind knowning where Heath and Paul are based in Kirkham - will pop in and say hi when I make it back up to the North West.

Heath and Paul's details are:
Ribby Road Garage, Kirkham, nr. Blackpool. Heath's mobile is 0796 9454703, Paul's is 07968 094737.
Pits - I too much prefer the smaller spoiler. Mike Clarke at Ciceley told me that the whale tail jobbie holds 2 litres of water at rest!! Paul took a look at my chassis plate and tells me it was indeed one of the last Tuscans to come out of Blackpool and as such has the new dash layout and Bilstein shocks.
