Cash back or Points?

What do you use / suggest.

Amex looks the best fo Cash back, but then the points you get through something like a Nectar Credit Card are atractive as well.

I guess I'll be spending up to about 5K a year on it.

I use Amex for expenses, put through about £25k a year.....

From the points to date I have had:-

3 Raleigh Bikes - average retail price £200
1 LCD and 1 Plasma TV - Circa retail £2200
6 sets of Dunhill Cufflinks - average retail £120
1 DS Lite - retail £99
3 Wilson Tennis rackets - Circa £100

Currently 3/4 of the way to a new 32inch sony barvia.

Wouldn't change it for anytthing, the only issue with the card itself is small businesses do not tend to take it (they claim 3.5 % ) I take it in my shops and it works out at about 2.7 % so not too bad.

Also the card gets you into places, My mum is a keen tennis fan, Amex sponsor the Melbourne open, I was able to get tickets very easily for that, and my mum was pampered in the Amex Tent..Same at Golfing events, I am just waiting for them to take on Football in some way then I am laughing all the way to the bank....

We used to use Natwest Mastercard and I managed to get enough points for a 3 night break to NY and flights to spain. They have now stopped it but I think they are starting something similiar.

We also have an MBNA card which allows you to collect points for British Midland.
