Looking for guidance on this one, I have an August 2005 Alpina B5 saloon with I Drive but no bluetooth.

If it possible to retro-fit the I drive bluetooth, if not is there a bluetooth kit that utilises the buttons
on the steering wheel?

Thanks

If my E46 Alpina is anything to go by, it's a bit of a bugger.

The retrofit kit for bluetooth, if the bluetooth pre-wiring option wasn't selected when the car was first specified, is actually pretty cheap - no more than £400.

However, the kit appears to be a bluetooth aerial and module to plug into the OBC/Stereo, and a ruddy great wiring loom.

The labour to fit this is 10hrs alone on the E46 - requiring removal of just about everything inside the car. (of course, BMW won't supply instructions decent enough to attempt this yourself)

Ended up with a cost of £1800 all in for main dealer retrofitted bluetooth.

However, if yours has pre-wiring for bluetooth (aka Bluetooth preparation) then you might be lucky with just a module/aerial and a flash reprogramme of the OBC/Stereo/I-Drive.

Have you got the original selected options list from when the car was new?

I did my e46 retrofit myself, I made the loom and bought the bits, total cost of job was less than £180, the I-drive equiped cars have a fibre connecter as well (I think) as the 54pin plug, first check if you have the BT prep first as this will make the job a whole lot easier.

Also, mine did not require a reflash, it just worked out the box so to speak, intergrated with my nav setup and the MFSW, I enabled (myself) the VR Control on the ULF and have that now as well.

It was about 2 hours to make the loom, and another 2-3 to fit in the car (10hrs seems excessive to me), all that was needed to remove was the rear panel in the boot (easy), the rear seat base (easy), rear squab (easy), glove box (easy) and a piller cover (easy, but tricky), thats it, the whole car was back togeather by lunchtime.

Here is the link for the install, (for ideas).
