‘ello chaps

in the last few days my old brick telephone system has suddenly stopped working, it been working superbly for the last year and-a-bit but when I went to use it during the week there was nothing, doesn’t even seem to acknowledge there’s a telephone systems there, so I thought I’d have a look tonight but no luck. If I tell you what I did maybe someone could make another suggestion,

1. checked fuse no. 46 in the drivers side foot well, it was fine
2. checked all fuses in the passenger foot well, just to make sure
3. unhooked all the arm rest mechanism to check all the wiring, surprisingly there weren’t that many wires there and they all were fine, nothing unclipped or frayed
4. checked fuse 70 in the boot and all is fine there too.
5. checked the SIM card reader in the boot, in fact I took all of it out and again nothing was out of place

So now I’m all out of ideas, and I’m hoping someone else can point me in another direction. Changing the system isn’t really and option as the system that’s there has been working perfectly since I’ve bought the car so would rather replace parts that rip the whole thing out. I’m lucky in that I’m on O2 and have 2 SIM card to 1 number so I don’t have to swap SIMs all the time

So, any ideas? There’s a [few] pint[s] in it for the right answer

Thanks

What network's it on?
Occasionally the network operator changes something which means that older telephone units can't actually connect. O2 end-of-lifed a load of old phones like this recently - my mum's Philips Savvy stopped working after the best part of a decade.
May be that the 'old technology' of your carphone has fallen foul of a similar change?

No i don't think its that gizmo, my brother has a near 10 year old O2genie card, the only difference with his and my 1 year old O2 sim card is the older SIM worked in the slot directly under the phone, where as the newer one only worked in the sim slot in the boot near the CD auto changer.

quite bizzare

thanks
