Due to my employers being morons theyve managed to fail to pay me by my usual BACS payment. Ive managed to deal with this sudden lack of cash and theyre going to give me a cheque soon. Now I assume the cheque will be for my usual monthly salary but will the tax have been deducted? I usually just use PAYE however this month, due to my not having been paid I got a tax credit. How on earth does this all sort itself out, I dont fancy doing a valentino and getting arrested for tax evasion! Do I just pay in the cheque and forget about it or do I phone some kind of tax man? Ideally I wouldnt pay any tax on it and keep the credit...

You shouldn't have to do anything. Your employers are tasked with responsibility of deducting PAYE and NI from what they pay you and accounting for it properly to the Revenue.

As for Tax Credit - what type of tax credit are you claiming and how did you apply for it?.

Im not claiming any tax credit, on my pay slip it had no money paid to me other than the tax column saying cr and a sum of money as opposed to the usual deduction. Thanks for the reply biggrin
