hi all, was looking for some advice as experiencing a loss of power when putting foot down hard in 3rd + 4th gear usually between 4k-6k rpm. have looked for info on previous posts, most likely suggestion seems to be breather pipe under throttle body coming loose. i've replaced the cable tie on what i think is the right connection, pics below, tightening about as hard as possible, this has helped a bit but not sovled problem. the car seems to be running rich as soot on tailpipes and lots of pops and bangs on overrun from exhaust - don't know if this is relevant? sounds quite cool though. any thoughts?
cheers

follow the pipes from the map sensor to the inlet manifold - it may have come loose

i suggest you take it easy till you find out what the problem is

Firstly, make sure that elbow you have tie cabled is pulled slightly out from full in. If you push it full in then it will block the pipe.

When did you last have your spark plugs changed? If it feels like it takes a small "pause" under full throttle, but if you accelerate under 3/4rs it's fine then that is usually the spark plugs on the way out.

Sotty pipes and bangs on the overrun are normal. What isn't normal is any smoke coming out of the rear when warm and idling then blipping the throttle.

I just had my 6k service and water was found in the rear plug recesses, very deep which had damaged both the plugs and every thing round them. New plugs and 3 new coils later ABSOLUTELY NO HESITATION AT ALL!!!!!! woohoo Good old MV! Cheers Warren thumbup

yes Seems to be the one thing that is going lately, Warren changed my plugs at my 18k and the same thing happened.

Mine started around 16k, so it's worth changing them/regapping them it seems at the first sign of a hesitation.

thanks justin
it's pulled slightly out but has also got a small section cut out of the end of the pipe to allign with the L-shape of the tube.
there is smoke when the problem happens even though warm. it is a large hesitation/stall. not sure about the spark plugs, only had car 2 weeks. it's the black one from dove house (previously tony f). i would take it back to let the guys at dove house sort it but northants is a bit of a trek from leeds.
thanks

Depends what they did when they serviced it. The plugs should have been changed at 6000, so you are nearly half way through to the next plug change so it sounds feasible that the plugs could have sooted up / widendend their gap.

Although there is that wedge cut out, it's not enough if you push the elbow joint on fully. Push it all the way in, then back about 10mm and that's correct.
