HI all

very tempted to fit a smaller plate to my bike, u know the ones with the letters all in the same line 9" x 3". i realise if the police stop me im gonna get a fine.

but is it worth it as it will much improve the look of the ass end?????

Way I look at it is if you get stopped for something you WILL get done for that so they might as well also do you for whatever else it was that got you stopped in the first place. Whereas if your bike is completely legal, you've always got the chance of walking off with a bollocking instead.

Mines a bit smaller, not a huge amount but looks better. I been past police many times and they have given the bike a once over but never said a thing about the No plate

i hoped that the small plate the gsx had when i brought it would remain, but the dealer fitted a normal one - tbh i'll probably never get round to changing it.
my old bonnie has a 5.5"x4" & so far no problems with plod etc, looks sooooo much better like that as well (oh & its black n white but the bike isnt old enough). got a proper one for MOT time though.

That's my view too. A mate got pulled over because he was mucking about but they didn't or couldn't do him for anything. However they did give him a rectification notice for the small plate which was a ball ache.

Emphatically not worth it. Along with race cans, guaranteed to attract the wrong kind of attention on the rare occasion you come across BiB on the road.

..conversely, if you're going for a major hoon, quite useful. Or just take the thing off completely. But only worth it for seriously quick stuff. Which I don't do anymore.

i've always run small plates on bikes, and never had a problem, however, thames valley are apparently having a crack down on all number plates (car and bike) so after fitting my stock size plate to the GPz for its MOT, i've left it on there...

you get used to it... not really worth the hassle
