Hi Guys,

A friend has a TT Sport for sale, which i might be interested in.

It doesn't have cruise, (part of the 'weight saving'? rolleyes). Can it be fitted, using an original VAG stalk?. I imagine that the wiring is in place, as part of the loom, is this correct?

Can the engine be chipped further, and also, i've read somewhere that the 4wd ecu can be chipped to have it change the bias, and send more power to the rear wheels, does anyone know anything about this?

(I'm aware of the TT OC forum boards, but somethings got a grip of my PC and i can't receive emails, so can't register myself on the site.)

Cruise can be retrofitted and it can also be used to control which map to use if you have the car remapped. It can be chipped in the same way as the rest of the 225s and will probably get another 25-30bhp out of it.

You can also get the Haldex setups tweaked with the results being that torque transfer tends to happen earlier. Don't think it can be setup to be permanent 50:50 or anything but I'm no expert on this

Cruise can be retro fitted to any VAG drive-by-wire car very easily. I'm pretty certain that the 225 TT is a dbw so all you'll need is the stalk, connection wire and a laptop with VAG.com to enable it. I'm sure the enthusiasts sites will be happy to help with the enableing.

The Haldex system can be 'chipped', Awesome GTi had the kits in stock and iirc the price was circa £500 ex fitting. I think it turns the Haldex system from a FWD with 4WD stability control (when the front wheels let go) to a 4WD system. Not sure if you can adjust it to give any rear bias though.

The TT has very 'bad' intercooler pipework (and their positioning in the inner wings although aesthetical, isn't great to). Fitting a front mounted intercooler (fmic) with decent 'Samco' hoses and fittings and larger turbo pipe (Neuspeed do a very nice one again Awesome GTi) would help make the breathe a lot more efficiently. Combine this with a replacement performance panel filter and exhuast and you'll have a very nice increase in power without straining the engine beyond factory settings (and less impact on your insurance). Of course should you then chip it then you'll maximise the benefit of the chipping to.

The uprated Haldex controller doesn't give you full time 4x4 per se, but it does lower the slip level at which it engages and makes it engage faster when it's asked to.

I haven't driven one to comment on whether it actually makes a noticeable difference though.
