Any owners got any feedback regarding the fuel consumption? I was looking on the BMW website & according to them the offical figures are:-

Urban 31mpg
Extra urban 53.3mpg
Combined 42.2mpg

Are these figures realistic? I also believe the 12 months road tax would be less expensive than his current vehicle - large 4x4 = £300 per year

My dad is looking at purchasing a 335d in the new year...

Cheers

My commute is 36 miles a day in a mixture of stationary traffic and generally slow moving roads. At the weekends the car will sometimes get a decent run out on some motorways etc, so most of my miles would be classed as urban.

I'm getting 32mpg at the moment, which is about 10 better than the 330ci i had previously.

I've done just over 3500 miles in mine since brand new. About half of these have been my daily 2 mile commute to work and back, the other half are autobahn miles cruising between 80-120 mph with more than a few visits to the edges of the performance envelope. So far I have averaged 35.7 mpg and I can confirm that my car is not restricted to 155mph, I have had a GPS verified 164mph!

Mostly urban driving at rush hour times with 20 miles at motorway speeds every day and we're seeing around 33-34MPG calculated not from the OBC.

Fantasic 164mph - what rev were you pulling at that speed? And if it were de restricted if what is the top speed?

Not sure what the revs were, I was pretty busy watching out for the other cars with the odd quick glance at the Tom Tom. I'd say that was pretty much flat out though as I had had my foot flat on the floor for about 5 mins by the time I saw 164. God only knows what it would pull if it had been remapped, I reckon 180 would be on the cards.

On another note I was sitting at 130, on the clock, on a nice flat piece of autobahn this afternoon and the instant consumption meter was reading over 30mpg! Not sure how accurate that can be...

Many thanks for all your replies. Can anyone confirm what the 12 months road tax costs? I believe it to be around £200...

I'd be interested to find out on which bit of autobahn you achieved this.

Mostly I do my top speed runs on the A5, just south
of Frankfurt or on the A3 nearby or sometimes on the A9
near Munich.

I'm usually fully load luggagewise so getting to Vmax
is a bit of challenge.

Over the 21,000 miles I've covered the OBC is reporting an overall average speed of 44.6 mph and an overall fuel consumption of 37.6 mpg.
The car has been remapped/derestricted by Simon at Emaps.
