It can be re-programmed to add around 30 bhp and 50 Nm torque to greatly enhance the drive with no downside.

8Tech.

The simplest answer to this is to buy a 330i.

Any money you have set aside to tune up can be added to a sale price and used to grab a 330/328.

The insurance increase of the 3 litre may be similar to that of the 2 litre once you declare the mods.

I have to say that I was thinking that too.

Having tried a 330, the 328 felt sluggish though.
I have Superchipped my 2002 330Ci to about 245bhp and I am convinced it's acceleration response is a bit sharper in auto. I would admit that drive is just a relaxed setting and acceleration can seem slower than a original Mini.

330's aren't exactly expensive now so the differential to a 320 might not be too great.

Thanks for the advice gents but i think a remap is the way to go as its the wifes car I only drive the car a couple of times a month. Any spare money is going towards a Cerbera for myself as the misses said i had to get shot of the R1 and get a car as its safer and slower (silly woman).

Anyone else skeptical of the remap claims above? Because I am..
I'd wager that even the best of the remaps would be doing well to top half those figures..
If you are going to remap it, do some homework first to see whos best, and don't go for the generic off the shelf crap. I'd find a company that can custom write the software to your actual car, and preferably uses a rolling road. Plus use a company that will show you before/after figures. Otherwise its all a bit scratchchin
However, even then a good remap is going to make a scarcely noticeable difference on a normally aspirated engine such as this. Different story if the engine has a turbo of course.. If you want to make a real difference, its going to need some real modifications (££££ ) or a car with a better/bigger/turbo engine to start with.

The Superchip was downloaded software direct from them (+ the chip).

Obviously the gains aren't as much as for turbo's but every little helps.

I also Bluefinned my wife's Mini Cooper and that has definitely made a difference as it is more free revving and makes overtakes a little less fraught (compared to the BMW and the Tiv.

Seriously, save your money and forget a remap, you aint going to get anything like a 30BHP again on a N/A 2 litre petrol...

I had my car done and TBH I would have had more satisfaction from just using the money to pay for fuel and going for a drive to the coast ..the last few RR ive been on quite a few people with chipped/remapped cars have been down on BHP and the torque curve has been a real mess. Those that had some gains didnt have anything like what was claimed, we worked it out on average as around 4BHP...which you are not going to feel in a 1500odd kilo car, you'd have a more worthwhile improvement by taking out the back seat and spare wheel..

IF your still adamanet, then do it right and RR your car before and after chipping, preferabley on the same dyno and the same day, to see what your getting.

Yup. Is 8Tech willing to accept a dyno before and afterwards and stand by that claim of 30bhp.. If not full refund??
