almost done my 500 mile run in of the Triple. only 5 miles left so that will be done going to my local dealers

had a good ride today, on my tod but left the house at 8:30 and get back home at 12. rained all the way back from brecon ( south wales)

my question is,

I got some hein-gericke HG PATHAN EVO 3-FINGERED GLOVES
http://www.hein-gericke.co.uk/shop/product_info.ph...

they look st but until recently I thought they were good. only used for short distances but kept my hands warm and dry. but after ddoing 500 miles in just over a week in mostly rain. I found them not to be very good at either of the above. my hands were wet and after only a short time riding my hands were freezing.

suggesstions as long as its not heated grips

Looking at spending no more than a £100 on the gloves.

so what do you lot recommened

I've always found that waterproof gloves always stop being waterproof after a period. Maybe there's something you can rewaterproof them with in the same way as you do with textiles but for leather.

I use Gerbing heated gloves, a little over £100 but well worth it, I do 30 mile commute in all weather and have never had cold hands since i got them. http://www.gerbings.co.uk/

I wouldn't say any bike gear is truly waterproof; water resistant is probably a better description.

The amount of resistance also does not depend on the price you paid for the item. My £320 Dainese Gore-tex jacket lets in faster than the £50 Buffalo my kid wears on her scooter (although I think I may be going significantly faster...)!

Gloves wise I have found Weiss and Dainese to be the best of a bad bunch, but even they let in eventually.

As for the heated grips response; have you ever tried them? Oxford's latest ones are pretty good; not too chunky, don't look too bad and are adjustable for heat level.

And if you add a pair of hand muffs made out of old five litre orange juice containers you have that genuine 80's courier look...

That is bad but if they were waterproof and they aren't now then whatever made them waterproof has now gone. They seem to be made from leather and textile which will be a pain but to treat but neither is waterproof without stuff treating them. I reproof my textile stuff with fabsil tent proofer which works well and you can get a tin of nikwax wax and work it in to the leather and that should sort that out.

If they used to be warm when they were keeping your hands dry then that should sort out that problem too.

Cheaper than buying new gloves every year.

spray them with fabsil, works for me on cheapo gloves.
oh & tuck them in your sleeves or the water runs down your jacket & into the glove.

Actually not too bad, with the fluffy gloves. Gets a bit erm, damp after a couple of hours, but by then my feet were getting seriously frostbitten
